Glover is ropey AF, always has been. Barlaser is also a massive weakness in our midfield - he's capable of a decent pass, but he doesn't do enough of them to make up for the rest of his game. McNair looked well off the pace today too, mentally more than anything. Thomas looks to be fairly pointless, just another 'solid'/unspectacular left back

they should do an option without the 'free' pint, knock £50 off it for those among us who cba to queue

Conteh went for £300k, so that’s £60k for us. Loaded
That'll probably cover Gibbo's caviar bill for the month

Tuncay still do a job in the championship at 42?

is Azaz available for this game? I'm guessing he's probably cup-tied..

Coulsen looked promising when he first broke through, but no manager seems to fancy him so gotta assume he's not up to it at this level. From the limited times I've seen him play, he seems very energetic but not much else really.. I had high hopes for him about 3/4 years ago though.

Don't mind that but along a similar line, what I find cringy is chanting "East/West stand, give us a song". It's like saying we know that our own fans in certain areas of the stadium are quiet, let's paint a target on them as well as the away fans. It works on a rare occasion but usually falls flat and ends with a few jeers from whoever initiated it.
I've sat in West Upper and North West Upper a fair bit now myself and while it obviously isn't as loud as other areas of the ground, if they feel the stadium going, there's plenty that try to join in.
ah yeah definitely

lol yeah I know what you mean. I'm a passionate hater of the "North/South Stand Red Army" b0llocks though tbh, I think it just completely kills the atmosphere dead when they start with it.

imo we deserved to get beat for wearing the disgusting blue and yellow away shirt for no reason - red clashes with white it seems..
Who's idea was it to pay tribute to Leeds Utd today?

Yes, we owe them one for last season also.
...................Dieng...............
Berg Lenihan McNair Bangura
Greenwood Hackney Barlaser
Jones Coburn McGree
LB is difficult, i feel we just play whoever Carrick has deemed first choice. Got to try and keep Barlaser and Hackney together they will dominate most midfields and Sunderland aren't fantastic in the middle so hopefully our quality shows. Coburn to hopefully bag as he makes himself undropable up top.
Barlaser feels too ponderous on the ball whenever I've seen him, not writing him off by any means cos he's clearly capable but I do worry that he's a little slow on the ball

Maybe ELL should be played as an attacking midfielder, rather than a striker. He clearly has skills and pace and can create chances.
He just can't finish to save his life.
do we have any actual strikers this season?

We won't get one but a midfield of
O'brien-New DM- Hackney
Would be unbelievable in my opinion
isn't O'Brien meant to be the DM?

I don't know why you seem to have this strange idea in your head that we could have done anything more to keep Akpom here. There's absolutely no way we could match what Ajax will be paying him or the length of contract they've offered him.
even if we could match, he'd be an idiot choose us over Ajax tbf

needed a DM for several seasons, it's beyond a joke now

Although it looks bad at the moment I really don’t think we are too far off a top 6 side providing we can get 3 quality signings through the door like has been rumoured
your optimism is admirable

yeah tbf the current club badge is terrible

tbh I can't understand the hype around the away kit.. the central layout looks bad imo. the current incarnation of the boro badge isn't great and seems to look worse each season to me, and this kit only highlights how rough it looks imo - they need to get rid of the shield & ribbons element to it. and the sponsor sticks out like a sore thumb.
...other than all that though, happy days. blue & yellow ftw.

what an anti-climax, that away kit is garbage imo

Coulsen is decent enough back up, I don't think you need to be particularly mega at LB/RB - Bola is a prime example.. tbh, Giles isn't a great defender. Coulsen always looked decent enough to me when he played, wasn't too sure why he was never given a chance.
Do we need a new manager?

my opinion on Woodgate is that he's largely just a bit of a useless *** I'm afraid, coaching wise. I don't think I'll ever be able to shake that thought. Ever since his first press conference as Boro manager I just don't think he seems cut out for it really. I think he seems nice enough and his heart is in the right place I'm sure, but surely Carrick needs experienced heads around him - what happened to the whole thing about him bringing in Phelan or Meulenstein as assistant for example.
Generally speaking though, it's pretty clear we've sacked this season off and looking to rebuild properly in the summer. I can't see McNair staying, purely based on the wages, I also don't think he's worth paying top dollar to keep either. If Howson stays it'll probably depend on him accepting a significant wage cut - assuming he's still on decent money.
Feels like selling Crooks when we did has been a huge blow in hindsight; he's by no means the best player in any position - definitely a case of jack of all trades, master of none. but right now, having the effort he puts in every game and just his physical presence on the pitch would be a real benefit. Can only assume the transfer fee was too good to turn down with the summer rebuild in mind.
