QPR v BORO 0-2 (Latte Lath, Forss)
Oslo_Syd replied to marvin's topic in Match Day Threads 2023/24 Season
To be honest, I didn't expect that. All credit to Carrick and the lads. -
Sadly, I think that accountants have more say in the running of the club than the chairman or the manager.
-
This was another car crash waiting to happen really, and I don’t think Carrick is entirely to blame, if at all.
-
There's no way I would blame recruitment. If I blame anything it's all the confusion that comes from injuries, transfers, international duty, etc. In some cases, MC is fielding players who are tired and not 100% fit. When we have played at our best, it's usually been with a fairly consistent team in terms of who was playing. That seems to have gone for the moment.
-
Seems like there are one or two shouting for his head actually. He was always going to be a long-term project, as is the team in fact.
-
What a difference a week makes. Last Saturday, everyone was full of praise and this Saturday it's get rid of Carrick. We are not Man City and Carrick is probably the best we can hope for.

So predictable, Typical Boro,

Leicester V Boro 1-2 (Azaz, Silvera)

Well who saw that one coming? -
Over the years, I must have used just about every antivirus program there is. Personally, I would steer clear of McAfee, Norton and Bitdefender - they are bloated and frankly not very effective. The best I've come across is Malwarebytes. Nothing gets through that and it doesn't seem to use much in the way of system resources. I run the free version and it's perfectly adequate. I also use Edge and DuckDuckGo which eliminate just about all ads.

Not too bad, all things considered. -
Boro V Aston Villa (3rd round FA Cup) 0-1

It could have so easily been otherwise but TBH I'm glad we're out of the FA Cup. We have more important fish to fry. Well done, lads! -

You don't take off your goalkeeper to kill the game. -
Leeds v Boro 3-2 (Latte Lath (2) )
Oslo_Syd replied to OldManGravz's topic in Match Day Threads 2023/24 Season
In spite of the fact that Dijksteel may not be the defender we want, I’ll have to stick up for him. His first yellow was absolutely wrong. I’ve seen it over and over again and he made no contact with Summerville at all. For his second yellow he clearly went for the ball and James, like Summerville, made a meal of it. Typical Leeds really. -

We're still work in progress, so god knows what we can achieve when we're the finished article. UTB -

We won? Surely some mistake there. I thought we didn't do winning anymore. -
I still have no problem with Carrick. He’s made it quite clear already that he does not expect us to be challenging for promotion this season. And that’s not surprising really. I was already alarmed last season with the number of loan players. It was a gamble that might have paid off, IF we’d got promoted. As it was, we didn’t, key players went elsewhere, and the club have now – belatedly – changed their strategy: we are going to buy players instead of borrow them. Which means we have to adjust our sights accordingly. Brilliant. And we’ve signed no less than 12 new players, only one of whom re

He's got testicular cancer, poor guy.
-
Could be, but he's thirty and he might prefer to play out his twilight years in the Middle East, or similar. He's always played for top teams.
-
Tielemans would be very useful but I doubt that he'd step down to the Champo. On the other hand, Tetê has all the skills and given the situation in Donetsk I don't think he'd be in a hurry to go back to his parent club.

The name says it all really. Born in Hartlepool (God help me) then lived in Middlesbrough, Hutton Rudby and Great Ayton as a kid. Moved to London (uni) for 5 years, then Kent (for another 5), then Paris (for yet another 5), then a town called Alphen aan den Rijn just south of Amsterdam for 19 years and I've now lived in Oslo for 19 years.

BORO v Coventry - Semi Final 2nd Leg 0-1
Oslo_Syd replied to SmogDane's topic in Match Day Threads 2022/23 Season
At the beginning of this season, I would never have imagined that we would be in the playoffs. We missed several key players tonight - Fry, Ramsey and Howson. But we can look back on some of the best football that I've seen in many a year. Some astute signings in the summer and a full season under Carrick will see us through. UTB -

Huddersfield v Boro 4-2 (Forss, Akpom)

Frankly, I was afraid of this. All too often in the past, the international break has destroyed any momentum we might have had and it looks like the same happened today. Hopefully we can recover from this and move on. We sorely missed Fry and McGree in the starting lineup.
