  1. With all due respect, this is not a logical argument. He hasn't been a manager yet.
  2. Not that I'm aware of. But I still think there's no chance.
  3. Your guess is as good as mine, Jefe. You might just as well ask why he's been sticking around for 3/4 years. By the way, loved the pullover.
  4. Just to inject a bit of surrealism into the debate and to show that you shouldn't always believe the hype, here's a promotional video for Boro legend Lee Dong Gook. Frankly, we could use him now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elalpyOqWcI
  5. Nonsense. No way. Michael will have eyes on the Ajax job.
  6. Agree, but I'm underwhelmed by both. You might argue that Carrick could have attracted good players, but what's the point of that if we can't afford them? We don't live in the Robson era.
  7. That's not saying much, mate, when his experience is Forest Green and 11 games at Watford.
  8. TBH the hype has come from the press and the bookies, not from the club. I think Edwards would be a mistake (that's not to say that anyone we appoint might not be a mistake).
  9. If you can persuade him to play. He might have to pick up the kids.
  10. Hannes Wolf has suddenly appeared from left field, hasn't he. This reminds me of the Karanka appointment. Looking at his stats, they are probably better than any of the other candidates, and he has managed Stuttgart and Genk (of Jelle Vossen fame). Also Bayer Leverkusen for a while. He got Stuttgart promoted to the Bundesliga. To compare, Carrick: bags of pedigree - as a player - but not much managerial experience and it seems that he might be reluctant to commit himself to management anyway. Whoever we choose has to be 100% committed, and he might not be. Corberan: a gamble th
  11. I think we shouldn’t forget that the Championship transfer market is fiercely competitive. It’s not like a supermarket that you stroll around and pick a skilful midfielder right off the shelf. We know of several potentially good deals that fell through for one reason or another. Wilder’s reputation here has gone from hero to zero but he probably had a good point about recruitment – not that Scott and the recruitment team went after the wrong players but that they didn’t do enough to get them over the line. Strand Larsen is a prime example. If Boro had just paid the asking price day one, he wou
  12. There's a certain predictability about all of this. Wilder imposes a system that the players aren't used to, so they have a big learning curve; he can't get the players he wants so the system is makeshift; he's then sacked leaving the players with a system that they haven't mastered and which isn't producing results, and Wilder is no longer there to make the necessary adjustments. That's a recipe for confusion IMHO.
  13. Let's face it, every performance is unacceptable if you lose. Losing to Millwall today is no big deal, considering their home record this season.
  14. Well, it was entertaining. Not the match of course but all the toxic sniping and bickering on here. I wonder what people actually expected. Millwall away is not easy at the best of times but 10 times worse if you don't have a manager and the team is all at sea. I'd have been very happy with a draw and a 2-0 loss is not exactly a disaster. Considering the circumstances, it's hardly a surprise yet people are already talking about relegation when it's early October and a new manager has not even been appointed.
  15. I thought Crooks had a hernia. If so, he shouldn't be playing at all.
  16. Y’know what? Tonight Leo delivered something that’s been lacking in Boro managers for a long time – passion for the club. The match was forgettable but we won, not by a great margin and far from a convincing performance but we won. Hackney was a revelation and the substitutions were sensible and well-timed, with none of the “what?” factor. The team were lacking in confidence, but who could blame them? TBH I wouldn’t mind Leo staying in charge and leaving more responsibility to the team itself. No more micro-management and a lot less statistical analysis. You employ professionals – let the
  17. As I've said before, it would be Corberan for me. Tutored by Bielsa, intelligent, skilful, adaptable and pragmatic. And with a good record at this level. Failing that, Edwards, but Corberan would be my first choice. Or maybe Warburton.
  18. Win or lose, I'd bet the team that runs out onto the pitch tomorrow night will play their hearts out. And it will be for Leo.
  19. Exactly my feelings. And when you look at the underwhelming managers on offer it seems a no-brainer to go for a foreigner again. I've had enough of homegrown donkeys and local lads.
  20. I know it might be too much to ask, but could we have a manager who can string a few words together without you needing a phrasebook to decipher his gibberish? If clear speaking is a reflection of clear thought, then it's no wonder we've had problems.
  21. Can't help thinking that sacking Wilder was a mistake. For my money, Corberan would be the man for the job.
  22. Wilder hasn’t been helped by not getting the forwards he wanted and that is entirely down to the Boro cash register. Ever heard of Erling Braut Haaland? Well, Jørgen Strand Larsen is roughly comparable. Both prolific strikers, Norwegian, the same age, and almost the same height. Groningen finally sold him for £9.9 million, by which time we had sold Spence for £13.2 million and Tav for £10.71 million. Why did we not outbid Celta de Vigo? Or just give Groningen the money they wanted in the first place. Job done. It would not have been difficult. Why didn’t we blow the cash on Györkeres? Wit
