  1. Where has he said he wants to play 433? I thought he liked fullbacks who primarily defend, and under 433 the fullbacks push up. Or am I mistaken?
  2. If Warnock can't commit to a full-time role, how likely is it that he will end up advising Woodgate? I don't like Warnock, but I can see us challenging for the play-offs if he stays on. If it isn't Warnock, then we need a fresh start, someone who can commit to 3 years and someone who isn't Woodgate. Bielsa has shown that the right manager can make the difference at this level, just as Karanka did with us.
  3. If he can sort our home form out we might be competitive next season.
  4. Agreed - re bargains are abroad - I know we can't compete with Celtic because they can offer European football every season, but their model of picking people from Norway and Holland [to name two leagues] seems to work very well if you look at some of their successes.
  5. I hope Brentford capitalise on West Brom's failure to win tonight. I also hope Gibson looks at the way they run their club and tries to emulate it.
  6. I don't know if cowardly is the word I would use, but it is certainly inconsistent. I don't see any reason why they can't impose the 12 point deduction at the start of next season, regardless of the division Wigan are in. To say we will impose it now if they are outside the relegation spots may or may not punish them. With their form as it is, it seems unlikely to punish them this season. However, if they impose it at the start of next season it punishes them whichever league they are in.
  7. I agree with all of this, with one addition - Pulis-ball worked at the lower ends of the Premier League, keeping teams up by scraping 40-45 points each year. But is it worth it? It's not really entertainment. It doesn't work in the Championship when you need to outscore your opponents - the Villa semi illustrated that perfectly. If Nigel Pearson was available, I think he would be perfect for us. His Championship teams played attacking football, and the fans still hold him in high regard from his time as captain here.
  8. It's got to be George Friend next hasn't it? Cheap as chips and knows the club.
  9. 5-3-2 appears to be the way forward, although I think most of us would prefer Coulson to come in for Johnson. One more win should see us safe. Sad to think how high we could have been with a proper manager this season.

  11. Wigan facing a 12-point deduction, so they're back in the pack, depending on whether they finish the season out of the bottom three or not.
  12. I'd like to see Mowbray back as Director of Football too. He had an eye for a player under a tight budget and he appreciates attacking football. For manager I'd go with Plymouth Argyle's Ryan Lowe. He certainly likes attacking football. I think someone said that Gibson only takes unemployed people on, but I think he took Lennie Lawrence from Charlton back in the 90s.
  13. Woodgate was going on a scouting trip today to watch a player, but the trip has been cancelled as the player is not playing today. Link. Any idea who the player is?

  15. McNair has probably been our best player all season, so he needs to come back in, for Saville or Clayton. I don't rate Britt at all, so I'd leave him out, but I suppose it depends on whether Fletcher can manage to start another game. I certainly wouldn't start with Gestede up front, although he has proved useful lately for the last minutes of the game.
  16. I haven't listened to the audio file. Randolph Dijksteel - Fry - Ayala - Bola Howson - McNair - Wing Browne - Fletcher - Tavernier 2-0 to them. I'm also adjusting my preseason prediction of 12th place at the end of the season to 14th place.
  17. Was dropping Dijksteel harsh? Yes What’s the most impressive wall you’ve ever seen? Berlin Will Millwall’s direct style make us come unstuck? No idea. Would you make any changes? Yes Randolph Dijksteel - Fry - Ayala - Bola Howson - McNair Browne - Wing - Tavernier Fletcher Score predictions? 1-1
  18. Any changes to the team that lost against Blackburn? Randolph Dijksteel - Fry - Ayala - Bola Howson - Wing - McNair Browne - Fletcher - Tavernier Whats the most annoying thing you've ever been bitten by? Mosquitoes in Venice. What will the score be? I think we will win 2-1. Is promotion still the goal this season? promotion was never the goal for this season. Is there any chance that we're relegated this season? Slim.
  19. Who will be Boro's penalty taker going forward? Britt according to JW, but I would choose Fletcher. Will we see two fullbacks playing at fullback? Maybe. Who makes your starting line up? Randolph Dijksteel - Fry/Ayala - Friend - Coulson/Bola Howson - Wing - McNair Tavernier - Fletcher - Browne Will Boro pick their first win of the season this weekend? I don't think so.
  20. Yes Randolph Dijksteel Wood Ayala Bola Howson Wing McNair Browne Fletcher Tavernier Cup run No Solid 6/10
