Next up, the vote for Boro's greatest player to be given the number 2 jersey. Your candidates:

Curtis Fleming
A stalward in the Boro team for a decade, Fleming is synonymous with the Right Back position at both Ayresome Park and the Riverside. A true gent of the game with a lot of love for the club.

Michael Reiziger
Tangible excitement around Teesside when he arrived from Barcelona. One of the best Right Backs of his generation at points in his career. In truth, Reiziger struggled for form and fitness in his short stint at Boro. But showed flashes of his brilliance and is fondly remembered by a section of the Boro faithful.

Abel Xavier
Controversial. Enjoyable. A bit psycho? Never boring! Put in some good shifts on the pitch and always appealed to the fans with his antics and crazy hair. The less said about his departure...

Luke Young
Like Reiziger, only had one season here - but oozed talent before moving to Villa for more than double the fee Boro paid, where he became another fan favourite in his debut season. And who can forget that strike against Spurs!?

Voting closes at midday tomorrow. UTB!

Luke Young, clearly. Never should have sold him as honestly, we've never replaced him.

Definitely the most talented RB I've seen in a Boro shirt. Did say in an interview a while back he regretted leaving Boro "too early."

Another one of those "what could've been" / "typical Boro" moments.

Gutted that Branco was number 30, he was the catalyst for the Brazilian invasion.

And the obese...

Branco. Mido. Tomlin. Stamp. Any advances for the Boro Obese XI? 😂

Luke Young by a mile.
Looking forward to the poll on LB’s as we’ve had some great ones over the years!

You mean André Bikey, aye? 😉

There's some good names for #3. But for every good one there's a Bikey, Bennett, or Haas!

#6 is where it gets really interesting...

I’d add Ray Hankin to that list.

Hankin and Mido up top with Tomlin just behind... That'd terrifying defences in quite a different way....

If people are keen, I can re-run the #1 and #2 polls with older era player vs. the current winners alongside the next poll?

Would be:

Schwarzer vs. Platt

Young vs. Craggs

There seems to be a few who are keen, so happy to adapt it if so.

I think you should stick with this one and run a pre 1995 one, once this one is done.
