We also got promoted with Ayala unless I'm missing something? Grant was a great Captain but there were another 11 players on the pitch with him. Gaston Ramirez was also a major reason for us getting promoted when we did but he hardly covered himself in glory. It's the nature of football. Don't you find it just a little bit strange that someone who was deemed of enough good character to Captain the club suddenly became a monster?  Ayala's injury being "faked" is a matter of opinion, I have no idea if he is faking it or not he certainly won't be the first Boro Player to have had suspicious or convenient injuries nor will he be the first person to be told by Doctor's, Consultant's and Specialists that there was nothing wrong with them only for something to later be proved that they did have an illness all along.

Unfortunately the Club have a bit of recent history of making a mess of contracts and also spouting manufactured PR nonsense none less so than Woodgate being the "outstanding candidate". When you shout "fire" too many times eventually people stop believing it so excuse me if I don't believe them and now take what PR spin they come out with with a pinch of salt. The article on Ayala was unprofessional, and clearly a petulant and emotive knee jerk childish reaction.  I try and avoid basing opinions on outbursts said in the heat of the moment, they rarely contain much information of value.

Maybe he is guilty of everything currently thrown at him and I get the fans anger but things are rarely black and white and I haven't read or seen anything that convinces me that he has suddenly become a different person to the one I cheered and supported for the best part of seven years. If he could act for almost seven years he is clearly in the wrong profession but in fairness at least he hasn't spent the last six months training at another club. I will reserve judgement until I know both sides of the story. Until then for me he played a fantastic part in the brightest Boro spell of the last ten or twelve years or so.

That we are now in the worst spell of the last thirty years of Boro history its just far too convenient to create a distraction from what is really going on but maybe it is just a coincidence.

Steve Gibson needs to look himself in the mirror and question whether he’s letting his personal loyalty towards Woodgate cloud his, apparent, objective judgement of an absolutely incompetent manager.

I can see the argument for how they’ve played in training and for Woodgate basing their starting performances based on how they’ve played, but as we’ve seen that constant chopping and changes has yiel

Quick bit of maths  if you put £3 on at 91/1 means .... .... You lose £3

I could see some logic in Ayala faking an injury this season, what isn't logical is him supposedly faking injuries in the middle of a promotion campaign or in his only premier league season.

It's a really malicious story to write actually.

It's so surreal seeing how much we have fallen since that premier league season and that's because of the chairman's decisions.

@diggerlad07

@Smoggydownsouth

What will it take for him to go? Do you think Steve Gibson will just accept going down?!

If you flip that around, If Woodgate keeps us up is that considered a successful first season by Gibson?

I mean the club has no standards we've repeatedly been told at various points of Woodgate's pitiful tenure by 'Boro higher ups' that relegation while not what we want is acceptable and little blame will be placed on Woodgate. This whole Ayala thing is so artificial, I called it in September out of all of our out of contract players why would 1) We want to renew any of them given our supposed financial reality and 2) Why would they sign on when the club's not going anywhere ever since then I've watched contract negotiation stories pop up every month or so and some people lap it up because no one wants to face the coming culling of a squad we're looking at this summer we are looking at requiring a Sunderland/QPR scale trialist/freebie/whatever bloke we can get tickets to rockliffe rebuild just to get senior numbers for next season whether it's League 1 or the Championship we'll be lucky to get a Haroun or Ogbeche in the way we're spiralling.

I had faith the club expected and was bracing/preparing for this summer... And then we spent January chasing Ben Gibson as we hovered around the drop zone and fans lapped it up and I concluded we are absolutely done for as a club I don't see how you fix it Mowbray worked because he connected fans to the club again and Gibson still had goodwill now we're in a totally different situation and as we've plodded through a shocking run with Woodgate our chairman's briefing reporters that while he doesn't WANT relegation he's prepared for it.

Fans moan about Boro players alot whether it's Shotton, Britt or whoever they usually use the word 'fight' for the shirt yet our chairman and manager have set the bar so low all season what would they be fighting for exactly? There's not an ounce of fight in this football club because it's all so cozy top to bottom they're in a bubble that didn't start with Woodgate but it's pretty clearly gotten worse we used to at least get the 'play off minimum expectations' line every time Pulis/Karanka had an iffy spell as a message from Gibson now he's surrendering to the layoffs and cuts of relegation since December because there is no standards. I worry for us I really do we're directionless, in freefall and there's no one fighting to stop it or change it they had 3 months to sit back reorganise/reflect/learn/absorb and it looks like they did none of that because we got served the same disorganized mess straight off a pub pitch we were getting before it's a scandal the way we've been ran this season there's nothing ever there beyond shrugs and empty platitudes.

This lockdown re-start is a real test of any manager. It's embarrassing how under prepared and lost we looked. Tells me Woodgate is out of his depth. He was unable to prepare and bring together a team.

Is there any hope Gibson takes action this season?

No chance whatsoever of Gibson taking any action, backed Woodgate when we were woeful, and we're still woeful so same old same old I'm afraid.

Nice to see SG was at the match. If we go down I 100% blame him for this *** show he has created. If he comes out in summer when we in league 1 and even attempts the to talk positive bullshit i will hunt the stupid chunt down myself and demand answers.

How can you sit there and watch this utter *** week in week out and still claim you want the best for this club? If you really want us to survive then sack that clueless fool you hired.

The next 2 games are sooo huuuuge and i would not trust Woodgate to tell me the correct time never mind manage two positive results.

Shambles off a club from every angle. Boardroom, in the dugout, on the pitch, in recruitment etc etc. Literally not one positive aspect to our club at this moment in time.

Yeah, bit we are going to SMASH League 1!

Woodgate will be our manager in league 1.

Woodgate will also be our manager if we somehow manage to stay up.  He isn't going anywhere. Gibson won't sack him because that would mean admitting a mistake with the appointment and Woody won't walk of his own accord because he knows he wouldn't get another job.

If I was Ayala I would fake an injury to not play. Why would you risk injuring yourself and being associated with a boro team going down?

Tosser behaviour, to be fair.

Woodgate, League 1. That’s my final answer! Let’s face facts, he had several international’s to get it right, failed. He had time during lock down to get it right, failed. I don’t blame GS because you simply can’t make a silk purse from a pigs ear, no, the blame lies squarely at SG door.

just watched the play off final and listening to AK.  Its a disgrace the way we have fallen. Can't see those days back for a long time, if ever.

Remember how organised he made us? His first week or 2 you could see a huge difference in shape and preparedness. Woodgate is the literal opposite.
