Boro v Millwall (A) 2-0 (Assombalonga, Fletcher)

Recommended Posts

Don't think that looked like a clear penalty, to me. I think it was six and two threes and Spence has just sort of fell over, not dived, just fell. Wallace has kept his legs in as much as he could, he's not took Spence out. Maybe one but I don't think so.

Couple of times the ball could have fallen better for us. We’re doing okay but as always I’m nervous when we’re defending.

I have seen the replay 4 times ..

My stream has replays .. but Drury said no replays was available.. I don't get that ..

It's a penna, when you see it from the other angle, from the goal line

Better than last two games but you still wonder where the goals we need will come from.

I'm feeling fairly hopeful. Millwall haven't dominated. We've been able to play some decent stuff. Just need better final balls and players to get into better positions.

Fairly even so far, so Millwall are probably feeling the same.

It looked like a foul to me, he's nowhere near the ball and he's kind of pushed him and swung his leg at him.  Might not be a clear trip but outside the box its 100% a freekick.

I admit I don't know as much as you guys here so can someone please correct me in my thought that Wing and Tavernier and decent players, have been chipping in with goals and perhaps should be in the starting line up rather than on the bench?

Am I wildly wrong about these two? Are the players in the starting line up Boros best starting 11?

Tav is in my first 11, wing is not. Wing is ok to bring on when we cant break through as we can smash one in from 30 yards. He cant do much else though.

We are set up not to lose this game .. 5 defenders and 3 defensive minded midfielders ..

Millwall has only scored 8 more goals than us this season ..

I agree with you, he seems to have not picked anyone with any creativity except Spence

Wing hasn't been great since the restart but I think Tav has done enough to earn a start. Really, it's difficult to say what our best 11 is absolutely because there has been so much quality lacking for months. Every strength is negated by a weakness and it's difficult to know where that balance lies in our team.

    • The thread title is probably my fault - as @Changing Times says, I'd posted a thread asking if it was time to abolish the FA. Maybe we need to keep that thread at the top of the board, so the correlation between that one and this is more obvious? Then again, apart from the title, nothing that's been said over the last four pages would come as a surprise to anyone at MFC. It's not like we're talking about chasing SG out of town with pitchforks, or hanging an effigy of him from the Transporter Bridge. Everyone knows what we achieved in the Noughties, but there's been one misstep after another for over a decade. That needs scrutinising, and our supine local press clearly isn't up to the job. Incidentally, since people in positions of authority apparently read this forum, I'd like to say hello to anyone at Red Bull who's reading this. Your drinks are excellent, and we would be delighted if you bought our club. Pleeeeease?
    • Considering we've had to play the top four sides, with a paper-thin squad and none of our transfer deadline day targets plus several injuries in key positions, I think we've started really well. Even the best managers need time to work their magic - Aitor tightened us up defensively almost straight away (as has Warnock), but it takes far longer to work on attacking flair, intuitive passing and clever set-pieces. Also, the team's confidence will be rising with every battling draw, sneaky win and clean sheet. I've seen mediocre teams on paper go on incredible runs because confidence is high and so winning becomes a habit. I wouldn't bet against us becoming one of the league's form teams as the season progresses, especially if we can sign a CB, LWB and CF in January.

    • Judged on who we have faced I think we have had a much better start than a lot of us would have said earlier.
    • Interesting thread well done Smogzilla. Back to the game, massively important that we are seen as the dominant team and that we are an attacking team expecially at home. Need a win otherwise we become the draw king specialists. We are not a relegation candidate this season and not too sure where we can finish but I do know that we are not too far off being a good team for the division. Take it to Coventry and get 3 points under the belt
