Because different managers have different opinions?

Then maybe we should stop changing our frigging manager so often? It's absolutely still a valid point in terms of recruitment. You don't just reset after a manager.

Hi guys! PAOK fan here from Greece. You are getting a really hard worker in Akpom. He is a top lad and a good professional. When he first came, he was considered a bench player. It was the 2018-19 sea

Morsy nearly done

Williams fee nearly agreed. 1.75million rising to 2.5 (So 1.75 then 😂).

We are an absolute joke. How can we be this skint that we are struggling to get deals for bang average free agents and League One players over the line? Something is not right and has not been right for years.

We're not exactly skint, there's money there for the right players.

As usual the club is being very stubborn about agent's fees and players taking the mickey with regards to personal terms.

Can you blame Warnock for a signing he didn't make not being considered good enough to be a main part of his plan for the team?

No, you can't blame Warnock at all. That doesn't mean it's not frigging stupid that we've spent £1m and are rumoured to not think he's actually good enough and want to spend the same amount replacing him. It's nothing to do with Warnock, it's the short term gap-filling with little to no thought as to what the next manager might want.

The club don't have a philosophy they want a manager to meet, they want a manager to come in and run business and take the job off their hands. That's unsustainable. If we signed players to fit a philosophy and a manager to also fit that philosophy, we'd spend less time and money buying players we don't need then wanting rid of them.

Or Warnock doesn’t think Pears is good enough to challenge him at the moment and wants a loan keeper for competition.

Or maybe Pears is still going to Blackburn?

Probably closer to the truth.

out of the two I think Stojanovic is the better keeper, Pears never fills me with confidence when he plays, he just seems to timid.

I'm hoping this young data analytics guy we just hired will bring our recruitment into the 21st century. But it will take him abit of time to set it all up

Sam Jackson?  The irony here is we're discussing a new goalkeeper when his previous job was head of research and analytics at World in Motion/GK1 who are "the ‘go to’ agency for goalkeepers, and for clubs alike when recruiting goalkeeping talent" and were involved in the Stoj signing to begin with. Whilst he worked there.

If it’s a keeper to be back up to Stoj then that’s fair enough. If it’s to bring in a new number 1 then I still think it’s a waste of a million quid to bring in Stoj in the first place.
This highlights our short term mindset brilliantly. Let’s say we get a GK who is an old school keeper. Good in the air and commands his box. Brilliant. But, when Warnock inevitably leaves, what if this new keeper doesn’t play the way we are moving forward. For arguments sake, let’s say we make a bold decision and want a sweeper keeper. We then have to get ANOTHER keeper to fit this philosophy.
I think the problem is we let the managers dictate the way we play, and buy players accordingly. Then when the cycle comes round to getting a new manager, we overturn players.
You could say that this approach is more or less the nature of the beast of football and a new manager, but have we got that luxury with little money going round? I’m not too sure.

Surely there must be a happy medium, where we get players to play the way we want and a manager who fits in with this ethos as well? I hope I’m wrong but it feels a bit like, any player through the door will do a job and a bit square peg in round holes.

For example, we got Ravel in last season, and never played him as a 10? Why have we sanctioned this deal if not to use him for his (imo) best position? We therefore wasted wages etc on him which could have been used elsewhere.

Easier said than done though, would you have kept any of Monk, Pulis or Woodgate?

Also to be fair I didn't say it was a valid point, it's just a fact that different managers have different ideas.

We never used to get through managers so quickly, its a very recent thing and proves beyond doubt that the club are appointing the wrong managers.

Not many on here have been happy with any post Karanka appointment, and you can’t really argue with them, Agnew, Monk, Pulis, Woodgate, Warnock, that’s 5 shocking managers since March 2017.

Pulis and Warnock are far from shocking managers, Pulis was *** to watch and I don't think he didn't great job here but he still has a very good pedigree and didn't exactly lead us to bad finishes. Warnock is a very good manager at this level, you may just not like his playing style but it's ridiculous to describe him as a shocking manager.

The decisions at the top have been much more problematic than just managerial choices. But diggerlad is right, there is no point going over this again on here.

Its that attitude that too many Boro fans have and we will continue to fail.

It starts off with its in the past move on, and then people slowly twist it trying to make it less bad. Then we accept it again.

Pulis wasnt a disaster inregards of on the pitch but was far from a success, for the club as a whole he was shocking. Pushing players out, dismantling departments, wasting what little money we had on crap.

Boro fans should be raging at the decisions not excusing them.

No one has excused anything, stop making arguments with yourself. But going over and over it again on the same post is beyond pointless. No one excused Pulis or any of those managers but it doesn't make them all shocking managers, Pulis caused issues off the pitch because he was allowed to and that lands solely at Gibbos door.

I'm not responding anymore though, unless it's on another thread.
