I reckon Goode is one of those defenders that Warnock was talking about in his press conference. Statistically the best defender in the EFL last year. Seems to fit the bill for what he described but rumours were that we had made a bid so maybe he did see something in him. 🤷‍♂️

Warnicks assistant Jepson was coach at Northampton earlier this season, so is likely the reason we started looking at him.

We call this the "Tony Pulis Special"

Pulis identified the issues and then did exactly the same thing by indulging in over priced centre mids and immobile centre halves

Literally anyone that is Danish is a bargain in your eyes.

I think he wants to turn us into FC Middelfart (a real place - honest). 😉

pulis was a funny one. its like he had a list of targets eg: 2xcm, 2xcd, 2xwingers, 2xfullbacks. but we ended up only getting a few which seemed totally odd because we missed out on the actual important ones. but like the baggies fans said i think. he only signed central defenders and central midfielders so maybe not.

Could do with Immobile after the season he's had

Anyone else think we will see more of Sam Stubbs this season? Video up on Instagram of him and Grant Hall training together.

Got some reasonable first team experience out on loan last season so it's certainly possible.

I have no idea how he got on last season. Stats say he played 18 games in Scotland and then started 8 games in a bottom team after January in Eredivisie before the season closed. Could be a decent player to have as backup.

He's a good age, in a position we're lacking in, if he can't claim a place now then he never will.

Would save us spending more money too.

Looked a bit slow from the training video, but I suppose he won't be going full pelt when it's just him and Grant Hall there.

Freddie Woodman - GK - Newcastle - Loan

Mads Andersen - CB - Barnsley - Danish

Kristian Pedersen - LB - Birmingham - Danish

Scott Hogan - Forward - Villa - Loan

Jonathan Swift - CM - Reading - assists and stuff

Will that do CT?

Would really like Swift but Sheff United had a £4m bid rejected for him. If they sign Swift we may be able to get Freeman on loan although I'm sure he'd have better teams looking at him too.

    • Surprising as it may seem I do have a life outside of this forum!Read late on Saturday posts, in fairness others had succinctly put the deficiencies in his game.  He gets his game for one reason - we hardly have an alternative. Nice situation - for him
    • Brilliant shout erimus & my mates favourite player Not long after signing for the Boro he was mistaken as one of the members of the Great train robbery team, released soon after though  I should have thought of him, he would have definetly gone in to my fact of the day  He also ran a pub back in Swansea
    • You were missed after the Derby game, it's good to see you back. Two goals in two games now, the lad is on fire 💪
    • Assombalonga wasn't a mythical striker who scored goals for fun at this level though.  He scored 15 goals and then 14 goals before he joined us.  He then scored 15 goals and 14 goals for us.  We got exactly what we paid for, it's just that we paid far too much for him in the first place.  I'm not sure what it is about this that people don't get, unless they convinced themselves he was a 20+ striker somehow? Hugill is a beast of a striker.  The best season Hugill has had at this level was last season when he scored 13 goals.  He's only ever hit double figures twice at this level.  When they played in the same team, Hugill got 6 goals, Assombalonga got 14, albeit Assombalonga played more minutes, but he didn't play double the minutes.  Ah, but Hugill is the better all round player.  Hugill has 7 assists in his career at this level, Assombalonga has 6.  Hugill is a beast, Assombalonga is rubbish 🤷‍♂️ I think the bigger problem we have is the expectations that we place on some of these players.  The likes of Boyd and McDonald were players who had done ok at a relatively weak level of competition only.  Rhodes did well at this level but in a different set up to the one he joined when he came here, and we made no attempt to replicate that - that's one reason why an owner shouldn't decide to buy players. I'd say that we have three strikers who appear to be much of a muchness.  I doubt any of them would hit 20 a season at this level, they'd all top out at around 15 I reckon.  All you can do, as you mention, is attempt to play to their strengths as much as possible, or accept that if you don't then you will get inconsistent performances.  15 goals a season from a striker is fine, unless you spent £15m on that striker, in which case that's your own fault for not understanding what you are purchasing.
