Listened to the High Performance Podcast with Sean Dyche on Youtube where he talks about his philosophy and demands of players at Burnley. Its hard to believe there is an issue between him and Gibson considering the latter was thought of as a leader when he was here and it’s what Dyche looks for when signing players (Mentality, background, attitude, mannerisms etc)

Watched that too, thought he came across really well.

I've heard that there was a training ground incident with Ben and then it was decided he was to be removed from the group.

Well now we know why the winger rumours have been so quiet, he has 1 year left but Cardiff will be an absolute nightmare to deal with here the whole league rival premium on top I don't see this done easily at all or cheaply.

If Hoilett signed a new contract when Cardiff got promoted to the PL, he will probably be on far higher wages than we can afford. Plus i would imagine Cardiff will want quite a high fee for him even if he has only got one year of his contract still to run.

I don't think there is much in the story anyway, it is just the Gazette filling pages. The headline says we have identified him as a potential summer signing, all that means is we have written his name down on a list of possible targets.

Surprised this link has too so long to be fair

I love how they refer to warnocks new 1 year contract as 'a long term contract'

Because of his fee (2-4 million would be my ballpark) we'd have to be offering a 3 year deal to him which would take him to his 32nd birthday so not terribly old certainly not in Downing territory.

Listen in the market where League 1 wingers are priced at 2 million getting Junior Hoilett for that kind of price would be good business the problem I see here is Cardiff will be desperate to keep their main creative player outside of silly money. Another one in the can't hurt to try but chances of it happening seem slim to me we paid 6 million for Howson who was entering his final year in this league teams would rather let them walk on a free than sell to a division rival remotely cheaply.

I wouldn't mind Mendez-Laing from Cardiff.

Younger and also only has 1 year left on his contract.

I think this might be happening.

Why, do you know something?

Could be a decent signing, but I think its lazy journalism. Correct me of wrong, but didn't he fall out of favour under warnock at the start of last season? Making most of his appearances from the bench.

    • I think people are getting carried away in believing NW will build a potential promotional squad next season, were as I believe he is employed to balance the books with bargain bin players for championship sustainability.  I don’t believe NW signed to ensure promotion only then to walk away if it was achieved, because the squad would need to be rebuilt to maintain its position. Like I said I believe his role is to mop up and leave, which makes sense simply because he is not building for the following season and has nothing to prove or answer for, he trots off into retirement, after balancing the books with  a team that can reasonably compete in a league the town can afford.
    • I have watched some higlights different angles from the first Swansea goal .. If the ball doesnt deflect off Spence .. It would be off target across the box
    • I agree with all that but I'm talking about next season rather than this one and the parameters that Warnock may have to work with and in the context of some of the names and amount of new players being suggested on here generally. Not wishing to dampen the enthusiasm in any way but I think there will need to be a harsh new financial reality in football generally and with Boro in particular.  I'm speculating that £12M is the absolute minimum wage bill but SG might be willing to find more funds. A full season without gate income at the Riverside, Bulkhaul hit by Brexit and the Hotel closed for the last 12 months will have had a significant hit. Out of the eleven mentioned, Bettenelli, McNair, Hall, Howson, Saville, Bolasie, Akpom, Fletcher, Kebano, Roberts and Assombalonga, six of them, (Bettenelli, Fletcher, Bolasie, Kebano, Roberts and Assombalonga) won't be there and if in the case of Fletcher for example is here it won't be on the same terms. I'm guessing that Hall is nearer the £10K a week purely from reports around the time of his transfer leaving just McNair, Howson and Saville on the bigger salaries. How much we are contributing to Bolasie, Kebano and Bettenelli's wages at the minute I have no idea but it is probably eye watering.
