The Summer/Autumn transfers thread 2020 aka TURN DOWN FOR WHAT(more)

Recommended Posts

The Evening Gazette will surely report on the story soon. It’ll be another opportunity to reiterate for the hundredth time that no one wants to buy us and how we should be eternally happy to have Steve Gibson in charge of us. After all, it has been a good few weeks since their tongue was that deep in there.

Have we ever had an Israeli footballer at the club before? Think it would be a first.

I will say, if you'd asked me what nationality "Dan Glazer" was, Israeli probably wouldn't have been my first guess.

to the best of my knowledge, I do not remember us ever fielding a Jewish player, never mind an Israeli....but others might know better

1 cm in, 3 out?

3 out? Besides McNair who's meant to be going?

It is nice to see us actually having multiple options for positions we are looking to strengthen for once. That will be Amos, Stewart and Glazer now.
Certainly better than when we have sat all window trying to get the same name.
I wonder what order they were on this list ?

Glazer is the anglicised version. Hebrew would translate to Glezer - but his heritage is apparently Ashkenazi Jewish, which would explain why his name seems very American.

€2m, I'd say worth a punt. €4m and I'd walk away.

    • He's on a decent chink though Hall. Got a very good contract. Beauty of not paying for players i guess
    • Hall wasn't Warnock's signing, both he and Hall have said that. He also didn't cost anything.
    • Um...wasn't he a bit before the Robson era? 😉 "Was thinking earlier on about ex Boro players who would fit straight away into the current set up from the Robson era before the days of Junihio and the like and whether or not with the current squad are there any players you would be able to compare them with?" Or were you comparing John Hickton to Mikkel Beck? 😁   Though if we are going that far back, I'd happily have Brian Clough back.
    • Dont understand why anyone would not want warnock in charge next season. Theres no one better at this level. I dont care what anyone says but were over achieving this season when you look at the squad we've got.
    • I was thinking much the same. We struggle to attract decent players at the best of times, even when we have cash to splash (hence why we often seem to pay over the odds for players who are average at best). Right now I just can't see us bringing anyone in who will significantly improve our squad and aid a play-off push. That being the case, if all we're going to do is get a couple of lads in as cover, in the event of injuries, or first team players needing a rest, the most sensible option is short term loan signings.
