p_mards 1,365
Norwich have signed Kieran Dowell on a three year deal. He’s probably their replacement for Cantwell when they sell him for about £20 million. He’s already their fourth signing of this transfer window. I really admire how efficiently Norwich operate under Stuart Webber. They’re the benchmark of what I’d love us to be in the future if Steve Gibson can ever drag his head out of the 1990s.

I wonder if any of our targets are from abroad this year. He was recalled by his Parent Club and played in the French Cup Final albeit they lost. I think Warnock figured that Fry was his No.1 CB (in truth the clubs only one) then preferred Shotton or Friend due to age and experience, Harold despite his size is young. There was also the possibility of looking longer term and figuring that we couldn't afford to sign him so unless he stood out in ability rather than stature in training it was better to stick with what he was going to work with longer term if he and his Coaches were staying.

All this is based off their most recent set of accounts where they posted a £30 Million loss. So your looking at £80 Million in transfer debt, £40-£60 Million in loss of income and £30 Million loss. So for them just to break even your looking at them needing to raise close to £150 Million. All whilst trying to, you'd assume, aiming for promotion in the coming season. Disclosure: Very rough estimates here.

Sounds like they need to hurry up deciding how to appeal the goal that never happened in the Sheffield United game. 😬
TeaCider24 12,646
Would be fairly happy with Grant Hall, proven in this league and still has years in his legs yet.

I get that impression, unless they bounce back immediately. It's interesting as Bournemouth have been in the Prem for 5 seasons and have near enough spent all their income on players and wages. They've not upgraded their stadium (1 stand is still technically a temporary stand) and they've only recently started work on a new training ground. Burnley on the other hand have barely spent much on players and wages. But they have invested heavily into their infrastructure. In the last 3/4 years their academy has gone from a Cat 3 to a Cat 1. They've built a brand new training complex to incorporate the academy too.
TheJew 2,938
Whilst we clearly need a few defenders, I'm hoping and praying we fix the problem we have seemingly had since forever... pace and width. We need at least 2 wide players who both create and score goals. We need a pacey forward ideally and also a set piece specialist. Buying defenders a centre mid and forward won't fix our creativity problems. Especially as Roberts has gone now.
