We don’t have a hole do we?

We had a round one but stuck a square peg in it.

Oh yeah I know, I was just posing the question.

If I had to guess, it would replace one of the strikers, which is I think how he plans on using Roberts.

@Changing Times. Warnock said he plans to use Roberts where he been asking Tav to play. So what he referring to as the "hole" is what we fans understand to be the advanced central midfielder out the middle 3.

Thus its been Howson and Sav with Tav further up supporting the 2 strikers.

I assume when Roberts plays it will be him and 2 out of Howson Sav and Morsy.

A 3.5.2 or 3.4.1.2 if you like.

I hope Roberts doesn't mean Tav is benched as Tav shooting at the goal got us the goal against Barnsley.

Didn’t he set up both goals with his long range shooting?

Personally I’m not fussed about Roberts, he’s too selfish on the ball, he needs to learn to pick out a decent pass, rather than running down blind alleys.

If Tav is playing RWB I can't see him being benched for Roberts, who is certainly not going to play there.

Although I'd ideally like two specialist wing backs if Warnock wants to continue with 3-5-2 we should have enough to comfortably secure mid table if we get Roberts. I don't think we are going to see much of the 4-3-3 formation as he seems to like playing Akpom and Britt together up front and neither can really play out wide. I know a lot have said that Akpom can, but looking at his stats on Transfermarkt he's never really played on the wing. I suppose we could also play a traditional 4-4-2 with Tav and Robers on the wings. But let's get the Roberts deal wrapped up asap and move along.

Mate if you think we wont get comfortable mid table without roberts you are mental. its pretty obvious we will be top half anyway. i've seem champo football for years now and even though we have been badly let down in the wing backs positions so far and still kind of out of sorts.  we still look hard to beat and have been the better side for the majority of all the games so far. lighten up, we'll be pushing play offs as it is, i guarantee it.

I don't think we will be comfortably top half with the current squad. I don't think that's mental at all. As you say we are not blessed with real talent at wing backs, we have very little creativity and pace hence we are very predictable. Top that off with a threadbare squad that's only a few injuries away from fielding acadmy lads with not real experience. To think we will be pushing for play offs with this squad is metal😄

That's good business from Norwich. Back in the championship and they sell a player for 25 million and replace him with Gibson for about a quarter of that.

    • What an absolutely stupid, pointless and annoying quiz. (9/22)
    • As the great Bill Bryson once said: It is not true that the English invented cricket as a way of making all other human endeavours look interesting and lively; that was merely an unintended side-effect. I don't wish to denigrate a sport that is enjoyed by millions, some of them awake and facing the right way, but it is an odd game. It is the only sport that incorporates meal breaks. It is the only sport that shares its name with an insect. It is the only sport in which spectators burn as many calories as players (more if they are moderately restless). It is the only competitive activity of any type, other than perhaps baking, in which you can dress in white from head to toe and be as clean at the end of the day as you were at the beginning. Imagine a form of baseball in which the pitcher, after each delivery, collects the ball from the catcher and walks slowly with it out to centre field; and that there, after a minute's pause to collect himself, he turns and runs full tilt towards the pitcher's mound before hurling the ball at the ankles of a man who stands before him wearing a riding hat, heavy gloves of the sort used to handle radioactive isotopes, and a mattress strapped to each leg. Imagine moreover that if this batsman fails to hit the ball in a way that heartens him sufficiently to waddle sixty feet with mattresses strapped to his legs he is under no formal compulsion to run; he may stand there all day, and, as a rule, does. If by some miracle he is coaxed into making a miss-stroke that leads him to being put out, all the fielders throw up their arms in triumph and have a big hug. Then tea is called and everyone retires happily to a distant pavilion to fortify for the next siege. Now imagine all this going on for so long that by the time the match concludes autumn has crept in and all your library books are overdue. There you have cricket.
    • Perversely, I think we might win this one. Warnock seems to be able to say all the right things to the players before games against good teams, and he'll know how to outfox Mick McCarthy. I imagine there are some angry players in our dressing room after that Monk-esque performance against Bristol City, and I could see us coming out of the blocks with a point to prove. However, a win is irrelevant to our promotion chances, because we'll then fall apart against Coventry and get embarrassed again. Rinse, repeat.

    • I don't know anywhere near enough about St Pauli or Bundesliga 2 to really say if it means anything, but I notice Stojanovic has only kept 1 clean sheet in his 8 games there, letting in 13 goals. In the same period Bettinelli has played 10 homes, kept 2 clean sheets, and let in 16. Fairly similar statistically, though I've not actually watched their games and I imagine Stojanovic made more saves in that period.
