I actually think he has been really good at holding up the ball and bringing people into the game and providing that base for our other players to work off of in the attacking third whereas Fletcher is someone who wants to go in over the top.

Either way, we are going to need another striker if Fletch is down.

Yeah I’m not saying he’s been bad, he’s been decent. But don’t think he’s done enough in the two games for people to be saying he’s a ‘definite’ upgrade on Fletcher. Based on what?

Where is length of Fletchers injury disclosed please?

We will clearly need to get someone in given amount of games in short space. Just Britt n Akpom will lead to one of them being injured if over-used.

Interesting 7 days ahead

He said "a few months" on a now-deleted Instagram post.

Oh sorry i misread that.

I dont think he is an upgrade on Fletcher either just a different type of striker. I actually think all of three of our strikers are pretty much on the same level.

I think potentially Akpom and either Fletcher/Britt is our best pairing moving forward as i think Fletcher and Britt are more similar players.

We should go for Barnsley Woodrow as he must want to leave Barnsley they are rubbish, then their board may be open to selling to fund some of their own transfers. As based on how they played at the Riverside they are heading for league 1

Woodrow hasn’t scored a league goal for his last 14 games played, I imagine he’s not high on confidence right now.

There’s a tidy player in there, but I think if we’re getting another striker now it’s more likely to be a loan than splashing 1 million plus on Woodrow

Edit (besides the penalty last Saturday of course)

To be fair to the lad I doubt he get's many chances at Barnsley to score.

He'll get a hell of a lot more than at the Boro!

Just to relieve some Friday evening boredom i drew up a list of possible players we could look at for centre back and striker before fridays deadline:-

CENTRE BACK

1.       William Saliba (Arsenal) Amibtious but worth asking the question for a loan until Jan

2.       Ryan Bennett (Wolves)

3.       Filip Benkovic (Leicester)

4.       Nathanial Phillips (Liverpool)

5.       Ciaran Clark (Newcastle)

STRIKER (Now Fletcher is out)

1.       Kenneth Zohore (WBA)

2.       Charlie Austin (WBA)

3.      Michael  Obafemi (Southampton)

4.       Jermain Defoe (Rangers) 38yrs old but maybe a short term loan now he 4th choice at Rangers and omitted from they Europa league squad

5.       Connor Wickham (Palace)

Charlie Austin looks like he might well be on his way to Derby.

Zohore looks increasingly likely. Won’t get a minute at wba and theyd probably accept a lesser wage contribution shortly. No one is going to buy him or pay full whack.

Fletcher post might be removed, cause other clubs shouldnt smell our desperation, so they could demand silly fees...

    • Here we go as these Championship games are coming thick & fast & we can put our latest, unfortunate defeat behind us, move on & put another unbeaten run together, Neil Warnock wont let any of the player feel sorry for themselves after Saturdays defeat   And what better way to respond than to have a consecutive home game, they maybe struggling at the foot of the table but if we treat them with anything but respect they’ll turn us over   We’ve had some cracking games with Derby over the years at home, beating them 6-1, 5-1 even reaching our 1st ever FAC SF after winning at the baseball ground but its league points we’re after to achieve our goal of forcing our way in to the playoffs   Our 1st meeting between both teams on Teesside was back in 1903, our last season & penultimate game at Linthorpe road when the mighty Boro won 3-1, which included the final penalty taken on that ground   Since then we’ve met 147 times in total, Boro winning 64, drawing 34 & losing 50   Did you know we have scored 3 hattrick against Derby County George Camsell in 1929 John O’Rourke in 1967 Ravanelli in 1997   Represented  for both teams   Sir Bruce Rioch Colin Todd Ohhhhh Ravanelli Mikkel Beck Malcolm Christie who scored the only goal & very, very late goal at home to Brighton to start our carling cup run Chris Riggott David Nugent Ryan Shotton Ohhhhh Ravanelli Cyrus Christie Benito Carbone
    • You say that mate but he has perfectly good winger in Roberts sitting on the bench while he plays a young right back there. If he is expecting the likes of Bolasie and Grosicki to do the hard graft that I'm assuming he doesn't play Roberts for then I think he'll be in for a shock.
    • It was only ever good because of the chemistry between Jeff and the pundits. A  football show without any football had no right to be so entertaining.  They weren't the most insightful pundits around but that was part of the fun. You could tell they were enjoying themselves and all genuinely loved the game.
    • Sorry will put one up soon 👍
    • Just going back to Britt. Is there anywhere where it says he signed a 4yr deal? I just googled us signing him and there no mention of the length of contract in any of articles i can find?
