Hi guys! PAOK fan here from Greece. You are getting a really hard worker in Akpom. He is a top lad and a good professional. When he first came, he was considered a bench player. It was the 2018-19 sea

Morsy nearly done

Williams fee nearly agreed. 1.75million rising to 2.5 (So 1.75 then 😂).

I wonder if this is a further indication of warnock wanting to change to a 4231? He mentioned coulson playing as a 10 recently which was unusual since we don't play one - bolasie is best known as a left winger but has played a substantial part of his career as a forward/support striker. If we sign him and a left back then I think that's what we might see rather than a 433

I can’t see us getting both Rahman and Bolasie, will surely be one of the two.

I’d imagine we’ll probably only be able to pay a maximum of 20/30% of his wage.

It’s worth noting he ran us ragged at the riverside for villa in that 3-0 win, albeit he was up against Fry in an unfamiliar position as I recall. I realise his overall spell at villa was unsuccessful

Can we afford Bolasie and the time machine we'd need to be able to go back 6 years to when he was last any good?

Probably still much better than Johnson though.

I don't blame people for getting excited about this one, really. He could be awful and still be our best winger since Adama left.

If he's awful then he's awful, mate.

All joking aside, I see no reason why he would be awful or wouldn't be able to at least contribute something, especially if he's up for it.  But he might not be the player he was a while back, which is what most of the excitement would be based on.

I'd still like us to sign a left back.

Yeah, you'd hope if it happens, and if he and Roberts were both starting, between them they could create more than the handful of chances per game which we get now.

Heard from my source for the first time in a few weeks that this is very much a goer.

He was the one that mentioned Roberts long before it became "public".

Exciting times coming back. Warnock really thinks we can go up this year.

Said it at start of the the season and stick to it now, this is as wide open a Championship season I can remember personally. Under a promotion specialist in this league I think it is the best chance we’ll have for a while

(No I’m not deluded or getting carried away with our performance just stating the facts)

I’d be quietly confident of doing something this season if we pull off these signings. Rahman and bolasie down the left could either be magic or totally flop but at least it gives us a bit of something in the team plus Roberts on the right finally gives us a 2nd threat rather than relying on one player to do it all.

Id agree we would most likely go 4231 which would get the best out of all 4 of the attackers (yes we’d have 4 (FOUR) attackers!)

Anyone else wondering if this is all simply a case of Chinese whispers?
The other morning, NW arrived at training with a small cut on his chin....

Marvin: « Is that a cut on your chin boss ? »

NW “Yeah, a nick. *turning round to look for his first choice left back, Mark* Bola, see if you can find me a plaster”

so... Yeah, nick, Bola see ... becomes Yanick Bolasie

    • we need the players to play with it on the group in tight areas to. most of our squad players dont and just lump it. because of the instructions they are given. that is probably because like we seen under woodgate, they are not good enough to play and will lose possession and cause us problems. the main thing with woodgate tactics was losing the ball and instantly putting ourselves in trouble and outnumbering with guys all over the shop. NW stopped that by making us more rigid in shape and telling them to not dally and lump it over the top. at least that's how i see it in a simplified way.
    • We need a lot of those things but the thing we need the most is a new approach and intent. We won't get promoted from this league playing percentage football, hoping that luck falls on our side every game.
    • I'm surprised to see May miss out of the squad I feel even when not on form he is still capable of producing something.  Sexton is another big omission although that one is more understandable given Russell's form right now. On that note it was refreshing to see the form player getting selected. But I did think leadership and experience might have edged Sexton in. It will be interesting to see how Simmonds does having continually being left out by Jones for England despite arguably being the best forward in the country right now.
    • with fry playing we never seem to get done in behind the defense. without him it seems nearly every game. dijksteel and tavs work rate and energy on the right side. they dominated every team we played on that side. we missed one of them but once both were out team never looked the same. next season if we keep bolasie and he is linking with tav and has dijksteel over lapping all the space those two will create i'm sure he would be thriving. we get the correct forward in with him and i'm positive for next season. easier said than done though. we need a keeper who is competent in shot stopping and commanding his area.
    • Starting with the backs, no massive surprises in terms of who has been selected, barring Aki and Daly. But Daly can cover nearly every backline position, so it makes some sense in taking him, then it makes sense Aki is going as he fills a Tuliagi/Roberts shaped hole of previous tours. The biggest surprise in the backs for me is not having at least one or two of J.Davies, Slade or Ringrose. The forwards is where there are some big omissions; James Ryan, Billy V, CJ Stander or Underhill plus a very distinct lack of English props. Lawes being included despite his injury is a strange one, then Conan and Hill are two big surprises for me too. Sam Simmonds being involved is not a shock at all for me. I do not envy the selectors at all!
