The truest thing I ever heard was that a con man can convince you he is the perfect person for a job within a minute and it will take you the same amount of time watching him doing the actual work to know if he can actually do it....If a guy with fifty years experience in professional football can see obvious flaws, it is likely that he knows what he is talking about....I am a dinosaur in one respect, if a defender cannot defend, it makes no difference how good he is going forwards, he is going to always cost you more goals than he scores or creates.

If you took a clip of vidic vs torres and showed it to anyone they'd say he can't defend in a vacuum. You cant dismiss players on instinct from limited footage.

Hi guys! PAOK fan here from Greece. You are getting a really hard worker in Akpom. He is a top lad and a good professional. When he first came, he was considered a bench player. It was the 2018-19 sea

Morsy nearly done

Williams fee nearly agreed. 1.75million rising to 2.5 (So 1.75 then 😂).

I think it comes down to managers looking for what they want to see from a player or defender, which they can probably work out fairly quickly.

Warnock likely wants a domineering defender at both ends of the pitch, just like Pulis wanted players who could throw the ball and bore the life of out of the watching fans and Monk wanted players who's agent would give him a backhander (allegedly)

It was noticeable at the end of last season how slow Fry is. We could do with someone more mobile there.

It will now be Wheater, Gibson and Fry that have gone to make up for cock ups elsewhere. A real shame as they all seem to have wanted to stay.

Fry isn't slow.  He got done for pace by someone who is quick in the final home game that's all.  He's actually pretty quick himself once he gets going but at his height he's never going to be the quickest off the mark.

That probably wouldn't be in the Vidic highlight reel though to be fair!

Listening to Warnock talk about the analysts who said the defenders were the best ball winners in Europe and he replied that they CANT defend.

I think any signing is warnocks signing and if we want him managing our club we have to trust his recruitment.

He also thinks that Aden Flint can defend.  I trust Warnock's judgement in finding players he wants for the short time he's at the club.  People are kidding themselves if they think he's some sort of player judging mastermind however.

Hes achieved some kind of messiah status here some how! People seem to think hes above making mistakes or failing.

Or they're just willing to trust his decisions whilst he's here, given his proven track record in this league...

Nobody thinks he is above failing...most just think he is less likely to fail in short term than some others in the recent past and if he provides a few building blocks for the future, that is all most people want...

There are as many reasons to not trust his judgement in the last 10 years or so as there are reasons to trust it.
