The Summer/Autumn transfers thread 2020 aka TURN DOWN FOR WHAT(more)

There's also the loan market, something we haven't utilized very well.

Should be looking at Chelsea, United and Arsenal's young players, they have the best in the country.

Hi guys! PAOK fan here from Greece. You are getting a really hard worker in Akpom. He is a top lad and a good professional. When he first came, he was considered a bench player. It was the 2018-19 sea

Morsy nearly done

Williams fee nearly agreed. 1.75million rising to 2.5 (So 1.75 then 😂).

Some ridiculous suggestions in this thread.

We are still skint and the wage bill still needs cutting significantly.

We've got half a squad, right now. The wage bill is probably about as trim as it could be, barring 1 or 2.

We’ll be well under our limit for FFP now that the expensive summer under Monk was 3 years ago. Gibson could be in a position where he can afford to give Warnock a good sized budget to build a side with.

The Gazette said the other day:

"Should this be the case then Warnock faces the unenviable task of trying to improve the squad while at the same time reducing the wage bill."

That’s the easiest challenge in the world. Now that Gestede is gone you could literally replace him with anyone including a flip flop 🤷‍♂️

Our wage bill must be tiny, we only have 10 players in the squad now 😂

But dont forget the 7 first team coaches we are paying.

The last 2 sets of accounts we were at a total of -£4m. The latter of those was a £2m profit.

We’ll have made a big loss this season but, if Gibson wants or can, he’d be able to have losses of around £20m next season and be within FFP.

Like some have said, our wage bill couldn’t be much lower. We’ve got money to spend and plenty to spend on wages. Main issue is, we need a lot in so across what we need it won’t be that much.

we can get cb's and left backs on free's. all we have to do is buy another dcm and one or two wide men and a striker to cover britt and fletch.

2x cb's big ball winners

1x left back proper defender type

1x dcm again big ball winner proper defender type

2x wingers maybe one if johnson stays. roberts if we are lucky and another

1x striker = loan a young lad like nmecha but not him hes pap.

if 4 of them improve the first team in quality and our defensive capability we dont be far off being a play off prospect again.

If we take two for each position what do we have. I haven't included youths who haven't really played and may or may not be involved.

Gk  Pears,  Stoj, Mejias

Lb Bola, Coulson

Rb Spence, Djiksteel

CB Fry

CM Saville, Howson, McNair

LW

RW

AM Tav, Wing, Browne

CF Fletcher, Britt

That a thread bear squad and that's being generous by including Browne and Bola

It's a massive rebuild and whe  you look at that amount of players wage budgets dont stretch too far.

it's why we surely have to sell Britt its not easy to replace his goals but his wages can cover 2-3 quality additions and we'll get some £ rather than let him leave on a free

I'd sell 1 or 2 of Saville, McNair and Wing too

I genuinely cant see an English club coming in for him with the wages he is on. If. Celtic  lose edouard Then I think he would be a good fit up there , but he would probably have to take a big paycut.

actually thinking about the squad depth looking at ur post grimsby we probably need to sign 5 and get 3-4 loans in. thats without replacing anyone we actually sell. just dont let gill pick them eh lol

We could also sell the likes of Spence, Assombalonga and Fry for big money and sign cheaper replacements who are, if anything, probably better suited to Warnock’s search for consistent players who are physical and can effectively play his direct style of football. I think Warnock will be pretty happy to sell most of them for good offers as he’ll be happy with the quality of the cheaper replacements. For example: Grant Hall for Fry, Kiefer Moore for Assombalonga, and Chris Gunter for Spence. That would raise huge transfer funds for us to spend on other areas of the squad that we desperately need to strengthen. It’s them sort of shrewd transfer dealings that Warnock thrives with.
