Hi guys! PAOK fan here from Greece. You are getting a really hard worker in Akpom. He is a top lad and a good professional. When he first came, he was considered a bench player. It was the 2018-19 sea

Morsy nearly done

Williams fee nearly agreed. 1.75million rising to 2.5 (So 1.75 then 😂).

Maybe the club has waited to announce Warnock, cause player deals has been agreed and we will have a few announcements before the weekend.. Just guessing.

It's disturbing how competent you believe the club is! 😂😂

I really really hope he doesn’t fill the squad with plodders. I’ll be absolutely gutted if we start next season with Gunter and Fox as the full backs. One of the only positives from this season has been the emergence of Spence and Coulson. I’ll be gutted to see them converted into makeshift wingers and replaced with full backs who don’t cross the halfway line.

Really hope the last sentence is true.

And if it is I really hope that he's not working off the same list he used last summer because he had a shocker in the transfer market.

Also, the talk of promotion bid has to stop. We just survived relegation and we have no idea what resources we have to rebuild a decimated squad. We don't even know what the club wants to achieve next season yet so let's just see what happens or the bar is going to be set impossibly high again.

So Gerrard's leadership was instrumental in them winning the 2005 Champions League final.  Fair enough.  What about winning a Premier League title?  I assume his leadership existed for more than one game so why weren't they successful in the league?  I can remember Liverpool being a relatively poor side (for them) and he was their captain so how influential was he in reality?  Is Henderson a better leader than Gerrard seeing as how they've just stormed to the title?  Or do Liverpool just have a better side now, with a better manager?

In what sense are those Man City players leaders?  You're just plucking names out of thin air to suit your argument.  I'd maybe give you Walker as a communicator but not the rest.  De Bruyne is a brilliant footballer and huge influence during a game, but that's down to his ability, not his leadership.

There are loads of different styles of leadership, but Boro, somehow, have absolutely none.  Okey dokey.

Yeah thats just noise mate. I’m absolutely not picking names out of thin air. Anyone could see that Kompany was a leader Watching the Man City documentary on Netflix I saw De Bruyne talking to the players in training and in the changing room about what he wants to happen on the pitch and his example is his leadership style. (Although the same could be said about Silva but I didn’t see him do the extra things I saw with KDB)

The point about you make about Gerrard is Just silly. Using that logic you could say Grant Leadbitter wasn’t a leader because he didn’t make us win our play off final.

I do fully agree that with you that you need great players too without them you won’t win jack regardless of what leaders are on the pitch.
But my mind won’t be changed, that in a team sport of a combative nature you need leaders. And not just for 90mins on a Saturday but through the whole week and season. Also just as important you need followers to.
Also I want to clarify that a leader is not the most vocal guy on the pitch (not all the time) you need 3/4 different types.

(edit)

Also I don’t remember saying that Boro didn’t have leaders (I would count Friend as one) but the very top of the leadership hierarchy (the coach/assistant coach) were so inept the team as a whole were fighting a losing battle

I think Coulson could be an excellent left back. He has lots of good attributes, but I think he has been a left winger throughout all his progress through the academy. He was left back by default at the beginning of the season and his enthusiasm got him through. I dont know whether Warnock and his team are the type that can coach players into roles and improve them or need the ready made article butnit would be a crying shame if we don’t fulfill this lads potential.

All i want is players to be signed where they can play in there natural position. For to long we have signed players who can do a job in multiple positions instead of buying specialists and playing them where they should be playing. If we need wingers find a winger not a guy who can play up front, defence etc.. Basically round holes and no square pegs!

I wasn't disagreeing with Kompany, it was the others.

The point I make about Gerrard isn't silly.  You've just said that they won the Champions League final because of his leadership, which is fine.  But that's one game that we're talking about, if his leadership was so good and if leadership is so important then there should have been more to show for it.   The influence over time should be greater. The same goes for Leadbitter.  You can't have it that we got promoted because of his leadership but when we didn't get promoted, he had nothing to do with it.  His leadership was the same either way.  Other things were different and that's why we were ultimately successful a year later.  His leadership had naff all to do with it.

Look at Boro this season.  Do you believe we'd have had the same season if Warnock was the manager from the start of it, even if we had exactly the same players?  Lacking leaders or not, we'd have been higher in the table in my opinion.  All teams have leaders.  In any group situation you're going to get some leaders and some followers.  Our issue last season wasn't a lack of leaders,  it was the lack of a decent manager and an unbalanced squad.  Even with the unbalanced squad, a decent manager would have gotten more out of them than Woodgate did.  Put a good squad together with a good manager and you'll be successful more often than not.

Would anyone take Neeskens Kebano?

Linked with him before and his contracts up after the play offs, could be a decent option behind the striker or out wide
