Hi guys! PAOK fan here from Greece. You are getting a really hard worker in Akpom. He is a top lad and a good professional. When he first came, he was considered a bench player. It was the 2018-19 sea

Morsy nearly done

Williams fee nearly agreed. 1.75million rising to 2.5 (So 1.75 then 😂).

Friend is well past it but I can see the merits of keeping him around as a squad player and general experience. Johnson I just can't. Hes turd.

I think what annoys me even more about Johnson being kept (which isn't really Johnson's fault tbf) is that he seems to act as a massive cockblock. Personally I'd much rather see some of the younger lads (Coulson, Browne, Walker even) getting those last 10/15 mins and cup games rather than Johnson stinking the place up which is very likely to happen.

Freeman would be a superb signing. Hopefully there’s something to that.

The source just looks like a Boro fan trying to cast himself off as legitimate by calling himself @English Football News. Although I’d like to see us go for Freeman, I think those tweets are as credible as me saying on here “I think we should sign Jota and Robinson”.

Didn't Wednesday beat Mogga to the signing of Jaques Maghoma a few years back from Burton?

The lad is nearly 33 years old now and decent at best at this level but no better than what we have so I'd be surprised if there was any genuine interest.

Apparently Birmingham are after Gibson, seems like lazy journalism linking all of our promotion squad with Karanka. I doubt they will be able to afford him as they obviously don’t have the instalment money like we do.

Whether Birmingham can afford him depends on how much of Bellingham fee needs to be used to cover other debts and bank overdrafts, then  how high he is up on the Karanka  wanted list.
Money still owing from Burnley to us doesn’t really come into it. Say, for example Burley owe us £6m and we offer £6m for Ben, then yes no money needs to change hands. If Birmingham offer £6m, then Burley take the £6m from them and pass it on to us. Effect on Burnley finances is exactly the same over the long term and  if they insist that Birmingham pay any installments at exactly the same time as they are due to pay us, the cash flow effect is zero as well.

No better than what we have is difficult when we only fill a winger slot right now with players playing out of position, Browne aside.

But then I am also in the camp right now of hoping we don't throw what money we have at players we don't want in a year's time.

Generally I wouldn't entertain an offer for Maghoma but our squad is depleted, he'd be a short term deal like our manager and I suspect Warnock might be able to get more out of a winger like Maghoma than any Brum manager in a while would have done. I'm not wholly against that.

He mentioned wanting another signing this week as he was talking about the difficulty of getting a striker on our budget better than what we have put that together with the Echo story today saying he's going to start targeting other striker targets in the coming days suggests that a new striker might be his next priority?

https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/18626250.middlesbrough-pursue-alternative-targets-kieffer-moore/

You scan through League 1/SPL scorer charts from before lockdown I have to say there's not alot of standouts at all there and that seems to be where we'd be looking to get value. Maybe we've handed him some names we've scouted previously like Dykes or Kamberi but the only real standout striker in League 1 for our budget is probably Ladapo who is 6 foot 2 it is pretty scarce out there.

Obviously would love us to look abroad but as we saw with Kike and Vossen that doesn't necessarily translate perfectly either especially on a 2 million pound budget. I am curious who we end up targeting up front we probably need an aerial specialist but not a lampost who can't score at least Taylor/Moore have good feet and engines on them I'm just not seeing others out there that fit that bill at least not domestically.

I would like to see Moore here and think he could actually sign for us. I was reading today that Cardiff are still under a transfer embargo due to the Sala affair. I know there may be other options for him but I think from a salary point of view he will be affordable. He aint gonna stay at Wigan.

Karanka wouldn't have gone to Birmingham if they were skint. They may not necessarily have the funds to buy Gibson outright, but they'll certainly have the money to loan him.

Johnson 🤮

Not against friend getting a new contract as a 4th choice cb and 2nd choice left back. For all the criticism, and deservedly so, hes still got a lot of positive attributes that we probably couldn't replace as cheaply as we can get from him.

Agree  with regards to Friend, he had shown some form over the last two away games.

Re Johnson have to disagree and ok maybe I am in the minority but I think he too showed some real improvement of late and perhaps NW can get the best out of him

Looking at it from Gibson's point of view, does not seem to be many reasons that he would choose to go to Birmingham unless it is literally his only option....no real prospects of promotion....can't see them being able to offer much more money....new area to settle into ....more likely to be just waffle...but who knows...

Also regardless of how much he likes Karanka you'd think the pull of home would be significantly stronger.
