we were low scorers when promoted to mate. because we only had one real winger. adomah. then we sold him gaston went awol and that meant a team with zero creativity went down with a whimper, we were pathetic. wingers might not be the be all and end all. but they are certainly key in creating chances and goals

and thats why they are so hard to come across

Hi guys! PAOK fan here from Greece. You are getting a really hard worker in Akpom. He is a top lad and a good professional. When he first came, he was considered a bench player. It was the 2018-19 sea

Morsy nearly done

Williams fee nearly agreed. 1.75million rising to 2.5 (So 1.75 then 😂).

Nooo please don't let it start already, the 'he'll do a job out wide when he clearly isn't quick or direct enough' party trick we do every single season for the past 4 after missing out on all our wide targets

16/17 - Miss out on Deulofeu, Ziyech, Burke, Antonio, Praet, Ghezzal etc - It's okay we'll play Stuani and ageing Downing out wide

17/18 - Miss out on McGeady, Ojo, can't remember who else - It's okay we'll play Braithwaite or Fletcher out wide

18/19 - Miss out on Bolasie, Phillips, Rafa Silva, Grosicki AND sell Traore - It's okay we'll just play 5 Centre Midfielders

19/20 - Miss out on Kent, Diangana, Ibe, El Younoussi, etc - It's okay we'll play Fletcher out wide again and actually give Marvin Johnson a starting spot

20/21 - ?

Maybe we should do it again to be honest, create an award for the league's lowest scoring, most boring, slowest, attacking side and look to do the back to back to back

We have bigger problems than Wingers and it should be one of the last positions we should be looking at. A winger wont make much of a difference if the rest of the team is crap and at the moment the rest of the team is crap.

Tav and Fletcher aren't wingers and Wing isn't a number 10. We'd score even fewer goals next season if we line up like that. Push Tav into the middle and get two actual wingers. Failing that get a left back and play Coulson on the wing but I'm not sure thats the answer. We desperately need two wingers. That or we are left to play a narrow 4-4-2 with Tav at the tip of the diamond and the full backs providing the width.

It's really not looking good at the moment.

4231 Narrow.

Wing plays his best football in that position.

A winger will make a difference even if the rest of the team is crap. Because (a) we have two strikers who've been starved of service for years, and (b) a lack of wide creative play has been perhaps our biggest Achilles heel in recent seasons. Even last year, our defence was mid-table in terms of goals conceded. Where we consistently fall down is supplying service to the strikers.

Personally, I'd say a Gaston-type player is even more important than width, but I'd prioritise wingers ahead of LB (two players already in situ) and RB (two players already in situ), however much we might argue about the relative merits of those players.

Is that a wind up or what? The first 5 signings we need to make are defenders?

Its simple, we should be looking at all those positions before we consider looking at attacking mf.

At the moment all we have are 2 CBs one who is injury prone. We dont have a left back and our right back is very inexperienced.

The next 3 is personal opinion and I can understand if not agree with people putting Wingers ahead of those positions.

Dont have a left back? Coulson, Bola or Johnson?

Don't have a good left back could be your argument.

This forum doesn’t normally all agree on much but against this post might just be one of them.

We have 2 left backs and 2 right backs, plus Johnson and Howson.

I think we need a more experienced left back, but I'd prioritise attacking players over that.

But we do need another centre back whoever else we sign.

Goalkeeper is the last position we need to worry about, and I'll actually be angry if the club spend money on that position at the expense of anywhere else.

- Centre Back

- Defensive Midfielder (Specialist)

- Right Winger

- Striker

Above is, in my opinion that is what we need desperately.

- Centre Back

- Left Back

- Left Winger

Above is also what we need, but in my opinion less desperately.

*Before any outgoings.
