Yep the 70's & 80's were great times to follow football & the Boro, money wasn't as big an issue as it is today & the abyss between, not only the PL & championship, but between the elite clubs & the rest fighting to get enough points to stay up or content with finishing midtabke & sacrificing the cups with weaker teams Loved my time back then following the Boro, loads of household names as you mentioned Old Codger
Erimus74 2,981
Blast from the past - 15th March 2006 The night we conquered Roma After last night's defeat to Crewe I thought I would post the total opposite of what it is to be a Boro fan, the highs, as well as the lows, we've seen it all Boro went to Roma for the 2nd leg of UEFA, holding a, slender one goal advantage courtesy of a Yakubu 12th minute penalty, will one goal be enough in the Stadio Olimpico & see Boro in the Quarter finals The game was hectic, Boro done the unthinkable & took the lead on 32 minutes through a JFH powerful header & 2-0 on the night, with away goal ruling Roma now needed 3 Roma were dangerous throughout & after hitting the bar before our goal Roma drew level on the night with a 43 minutes via Amantino Mancini, in the 66th minute Ray Parlour gave away a penalty & Mancini converted, 2-1 to Roma, Boro were now on the back foot, but through experience, hard work & the brilliance of Mark Schwarzer the Boro pulled one of the greatest upsets against the cup favourites & night we Boro fans will never forget 8 bookings & a sending off on the night Boro were now in the QF's of the UEFA same round as the previous season Boro team Schwarzer Pogatetz Davies - Sub Queudrue Riggott Southgate Boateng Cattermole Downing Mendietta JFH Yakubu - Parlour UTMB

Erimus 63 478
One season Leicester took over the Holgate End early on and weren't displaced until about ten minutes before kick-off when all the late comers arrived. Lots of fighting. I can't remember the year though, 68, 69. or 70?
