Erimus74 2,990 Posted August 9, 2020 Author Share Posted August 9, 2020 Thought I would re-pot again as it was a game on the way to our 1st trophy win Boro flashback 9th August 1975 ASC Qualifying round Newcastle 2 Boro 2 Boro needed to avoid to defeat to finish top of the group to progress to the K/O stages, the group consisted of Boro, Carlisle, Sunderland & Newcastle IIRC a male Newcastle streaker ran on the pitch with the scores still at nil all, he looked like he'd been to Benidorm for his holidays with having white parts where his shorts once were, think he was wearing his socks ?? Erimus74 2,990 Posted August 11, 2020 Author Share Posted August 11, 2020 Boro flashback summer of 1978, as the Boro build up to John Neals 2nd season as manager & having lost 2 out of the 3 pre season friendlies played so far, the 4th pre-season friendly match, v Ajax, was to be our 1st home friendly Boro won the game 1-0 courtecy of a Billy Woof goal, infront of 9,527 fans at Ayresome Park John Neals team Jim Stewart - New signing & playing his 4th pre-season friendly is to be established as the teams No1 keeper John Craggs - Starting his 8th season at the Boro, sub, Peter Johnson who had played 4 games the back end of the previous season Ian Bailey - Made his debut away to WBA 1977 John Mahoney starting his 2nd season at the Boro & our one time record signing, sub, Craig Johnston who made a hugh impact the previous season Stuey Boam - starting his 8th & sadly final season at the Boro Alan Ramage - starting his 3rd season at the club, sub, Mark Proctor yet to make his debut or start a friendly game Graham Hedley - starting his 3rd season at the club Tony McAndrew - Youngest ever Boro player to score a hattrick, scoring his 3 goals on his 13th senior appearence Billy Ashcroft - Boro's 1st £100k signing & present record signing, sub, Dave Shearer, explosive debut the previous season scoring 2 goals in a 2-0 home win v Chelsea Billy Woof - 3 starts & 5 as sub to date over 2 seasons David Armstrong - ever present in all compatitions since the 24th March 1973 Link to post Share on other sites

Erimus74 2,990 Posted August 12, 2020 Author Share Posted August 12, 2020 This day 12th August 1972, Malscolm Smith made his full league debut for the mighty Boro, after been named as a playing sub in the final game of the previous season he was given the No9 shirt From my viewpoint in the boysned I watched as Sunderland took the lead but not long after Smith levelled the score & in the 2nd half won the day with the winning goal to secure the two points & fantatsic debut againts our local rivals, it doesnt get any better My 1st full seson going to games Link to post Share on other sites
