It was speculated by Johns at the Gazette that the lack of subs was a political point by Warnock directed at those above him, he has seemed frustrated in public over the past week about the lack of signings and numbers.

The fact that after Wing came on he didn't send anyone to warmup made it clear to me he was making a point by not putting Browne/Coulson on.

I’m sure given Warnock age and experience he does his talking directly man to man and not through media.. I don’t read to much in what journalists speculate.

I hope you're right.

I've always thought Warnock was one of those guys who just spoke his mind and didn't try to make points or feed the media by not managing games to the best of his ability.

Then again, maybe he has been talking to Gibson and not liked the responses he has got?

We can only speculate of course, but I would hope he is more honourable than to play silly games.

"Spence gave a great impersonation of a Now TV Stick, great when connected but prone to losing signal and dropping out."

Glad it's not just me then! Particularly prone to dropping out if I put the microwave on - have to remember to make my cuppa at half time 😀 Not likely to improve but Spence probably will

That's pathetic if that's the case. Like the higher ups don't already know we need players? The game was there to get something from, the right sub could have helped us get it. If Warnock was just trying to make a point, which I'm still not convinced he was, then that's a pathetic way of dealing with the game in front of you.

Yeah I can't see that either. Think Warnock is too much of a professional to do that. My impression is that he is too proud to throw a game that way. My guess is he thinks Johnson is a better crosser of the ball than either Coulson or Bola and that he was hoping one of his crosses would create a chance in the box. I don't think he rates Browne though. The game was crying out for someone with a bit of pace and skill rather than a Wing. Should have taken McNair off and gone 4 at the back to try something else and put Browne on.

Having given the game a few days thought I still think the following:

1. We were slow

2. No creativity

3. Boring

4. Fairly organised in the first 2/3 of the pitch

5. Basically Pulis mk.2

    • I am going to have a different attitude this season. I am going to support and get behind the squad that NW puts out on the pitch each and every game until that  player(s) shows that they should not be anywhere near the ground let alone the team. We all saw a good improvement on Saturday last and there is still plenty of games to go for further improvement. Heck I even believe that LW might kick a ball straight eventually😃
    • Terrific thanks Mark always knew that our Jen would make the right impression about the forum. Big thanks to Jen from all of us X Not meaning to be pedantic Mark but our "logo" is oneBoro😉
    • Yeah I’d agree with that. Obviously opposing teams will know what he’s about now too. Coulson on the other side showed he can be a threat last season but looks like he’s got serious work to do to get in over Marvin. We were in for a left back though so maybe can’t rule one out yet 🤞🏻
    • Think Spence's problem is he's getting the Traore treatment for us  The one where he's the only player in the entire squad who can run at defenders with the ball otherwise we have to try comatose their team with our sideways non-threatening passing from Howson to Saville to Howson to Saville and then back to the CBs so every single one of our dier attacks must go through him, then he has to get back and defend as well Must be burnt out a bit trying to carry every attack for a team at 19/20 years old
    • I’m a fan of Spence. He’s raw as stated but you can see the potential. He’s also only going to improve the defensive side of his game under Warnock, unlike that clown Woodgate who also dropped him for some reason. A bit of patience would be nice but not something Boro fans have in abundance. In games where you need to be more defensive you’d maybe take him out for Dijksteel but he’s one of only a couple of players who will carry the ball for us and is quick and in a team that’s already bereft of creativity you need that. We got him on a free, he’s young, he’s English and he’s the type of player we should be going for to hopefully improve and sell on for a decent fee. In an ideal world he’d be back up to someone more senior whilst getting some minutes but here we are.
