Had to change my picture after looking through today's match gallery. I knew George would have to go at some point but never did I expect to see such a happy face in a Middlesbrough shirt for Marc Bol

If Akpom wasn't offside for the deflected shot and if he'd have put that one-on-one away from the mistake, that could have been one of the biggest *** house hat-tricks of all time.

We've been crying out for a dynamic formation for years... This reading is more exciting to me than SmogDane's browser history!

Refs been crap but hasn't got any major game changing decisions wrong, so I'd prefer to focus on our performance.

We've been really poor going forward again, cant string more than 2 or 3 passes together. We've had by far the better chances from set pieces and from errors in Barnsleys defence and thankfully weve taken one of those opportunities.

Barnsley are really poor - as sloppy as weve been, they don't look like troubling our defense at all despite some nice patterns of play. Weve looked solid defensively but I'm not sure how much of that is down to their attacking confidence being shot.

It’s our one and only threat

yeh, i feel like weve gone full pulis, stop the other team from playing, turn the game into a scrap and hit them from set pieces...

Looks like Howson was shushing the ref there 😅

I SO hope he was.

Well, football-wise it was a pretty poor half. Neither side looked great, though I will say Barnsley were better on the ball and looked the more dangerous going forward. For all that though, they rarely threatened the Boro goal.

Also had a 12th man (in black)... 🙄🤬 taking away any advantages we managed to carve out for ourselves.

I will say we need to improve a lot 2nd half, but we deserved the goal purely for all the crap we had to put up with, as well as having Akpom's goal ruled out offside (pending further video analysis).

Some positives. McNair is really classy at the back both he and Djiksteel are good at stepping up into midfield. Bola has put a couple of decent crosses in and done okay. Morsy playing well and gives a bit of edge. I’d rather he swap places with Howson though. Fry very good at the back.

Was that Howson first goal for us?

Nah, I think he's got 1 or 2 for us already, I remember he scored one at Preston I think, the game we won 3-2 with 2 Ayala goals. Did he score in Monk's last game too? I can remember Shotton scored the winner in a 2-1 but I can't remember who scored the first.

Scruffy game. We started to get a grip of things in the last 5 mins and it felt like the goal was coming. Great strike from Tav and Saville did well to get his head on the rebound.
