If you like stealth games and haven't played it yet @boro-unger, get your hands on ghost of tushima! It was my second favourite game last year behind the last of us 2. It's got a ps5 upgrade free with the PS4 game so doesn't break the bank and looks beautiful.

Control ultimate edition is also excellent on ps5.

Do yourself a favour and play Astros playroom first. Quirky little platformer that celebrates the history of PlayStation, comes pre installed for free and only takes about 3 hours to complete but it really sells you on all the new features of the controller as well as being a fun game in its own right.

Spiderman miles Morales is the obvious one, if you've not played the 2018 Spiderman game get the remaster that comes with miles because its also bloody excellent.

Definitely agree re: Astro's Playroom, I'd honestly say it's arguably the best new platformer of that ilk we've had in ages. Crash 4 hasn't quite done it for me.

I just started Control last night and it is proper messing with my head. I've just finished replaying Uncharted 1-4 and needed something new to jump into and I honestly don't know if I'm ready for it. Without spoiling too much, I've just reached the point where you get the red telephone thing, I'm reading all the docs I find and it is really screwing with me. It feels like I'm sat in a lecture of quantum physics being given by Loki or something like that.

I read all the docs for the first hour or so but there are SO many! They don't slow down either. So I just stopped.

I finished it a couple of days ago, platinum trophy for as well, only my 4th ever so shows how highly regarded I hold that game. Keep going, and let me know when you've done the ashtray maze. My favourite section of gaming in years, potentially ever

Finally got the ps5 set up today and started astros (Good shout). The controller is incredible. The adaptive triggers that can change how hard it is to push them and just the general feedback you get from it - wow.

It's amazing isnt it? I love how you can feel your footsteps and the rain on the controller.  I don't think many games have really mastered it since playroom - the best two examples are probably returnal and miles Morales. But the more playstation first party games that come out the better itll get I think - I am buzzing for ratchet and clank next month, it's going to be unbelievable from everything I've seen and read!

I might be biased because I'm a ridiculously big fan of the Viking era, but AC: Valhalla is an absolutely superb game that I couldn't recommend highly enough.

I did buy the AC Valhalla in the end, but kind of regretting it tbh. I played and enjoyed the last however many AC games, but i just can't get in to this one. Think it's mainly due to the confusing controls (I keep having to stop and think about what button to press) and clunky combat (AC is meant to be a stealth game, not sure why they're turning it into a hack-em-up). I'll persevere, but kelp finding myself playing wreckfest instead...

Have you played any of the ACs since the soft reboot with Origins? because it plays basically exactly the same as Origins and Odyssey, but if you haven't played since pre Origins, I can see it being a bit of a shock.

Seen that God of War has been pushed back and announced as a PS4 cross title. I'm a little hesitant to dive in and say this is an all out bad call as it's AAA and a console seller, so maybe they have the resources to make it work well on both and still be worth the £15-20 extra on PS5.

If it was an indie title though, for sure it would be sacrificing quality time working on things that make the game better on one console than another and at some level that must be happening even at AAA. What happens when the time starts to run out and they need to get the game out? You take a knife to things that don't perform well on the lesser console and potentially take that hit on the better one. Or you do a Cyberpunk and just don't give a toss about the broken mess on the lesser consoles, in which case why bother announcing the PS4 version so early.

I'm guessing the big issue they have right now is wondering whether they'll make enough money from it as a PS5 only title with PS5 sales being held back by availability but it's an odd side to stand on when you want to move people off the older limited consoles (i.e. has to work on the regular PS4, not just PS4 Pro). Certainly odd to announce it so soon to essentially tell one set of gamers they might as well wait for the new console as their big titles are gonna be available on both. I've heard good things about Returnal but that's not gonna sell consoles.

Yeah I played both of them. They were ok (although I'd still rather the game returned to a more stealth like/climbing buildings focus). I think it's the controls that really bug me with valhalla. The control layout feels very 'busy' and if you try to reassign buttons, It's nigh on impossible as there are so many button conflicts. They should give a 'classic' button configuration as they did in origins.

To play valhalla should I have played the other ones first?

ummmm, there is an overarching "present day" storyline that runs through Origins, Odyssey & Valhalla, but I wouldn't necessarily say you have to play the others.

Aren't the controls almost exactly the same as in origins & odyssey? I've honestly never had issues with the controls, what is it that you find busy? like what are you struggling with?

I mainly didn't like using the shoulder buttons for fighting. Also square for dodge didn't feel intuitive. And god knows why special attack and smoke screen need their own dedicated buttons.

I've had a play this morning and think I've found a mapping that suits me and doesn't break the game. Square for attack and triangle for heavy attack. It feels better so far

interesting. Did you not have the same issues in Origins & Odyssey because I think shoulder buttons have been used for fighting since then?

I think I changed to the 'classic' control setting in at least one of those titles

Ah fair enough - I'll be honest I've never messed with the controls so for me it's just been the same all the way through.

Are you having any better luck with your new button settings?
