Boro V Derby County 3-0 (Assombalonga, Clarke OG,Johnson)

Recommended Posts

Derby bottom of the league with one win, and a crap  goal difference, it'll be very disappointing if we can't turn these over especially on our own patch, anything other than a win is a failure IMO, and not acceptable.

The way the results went last night a win is now imperative if we are to keep momentum and belief going. A draw or perish the thought a defeat would be nothing short of disastrous. It does make you wonder "what if" at Blackburn had we seriously went for it. Of course we could have and then equally we could have lost but at some point NW has to start delivering a few wins which means he needs to change things at the sharp end. No better time to do it than tonight against what is currently the worst team in the Championship.

Historically this is the sort of team we struggle against, but it is in our favour that they will not be coming here for a point as only a win benefits them. If we use the pace we have effectively and sit on their danger men, then the odds should be in our favour as I cannot see Warnock settling for a draw in this game. Might not be a big win, but if we can get a goal in the first twenty minutes, their confidence will not be boosted and we won't be on the edge of our seats for 90+ minutes. 2-0 should be possible and anything extra would be great.

Generous! I saw one optimist on their forum predict a 1-4 win for them.

Jim Carrey Omg GIF

That would be the "typical Boro" horror show.

This is the most I've expected Boro to win in a long long time. It has to be a win tonight we have to make the rams look like lambs to slaughter!

Can't wait to see the starting lineup as will there be big changes after the loss in last game & those that caused it.

Roberts for Spence would be my only definite change.

Though I do think McNair needs a break at some point, and it'll be good to get Morsy back in to.

    • Tav's injury has probably heightened the need for some creative flair needing to be added to the squad. Am I the only one that is wondering if it's the boots that Tav is wearing that is causing him to slip? The Ground staff didn't have a normal summer to reseed or relay the pitch or whatever they normally do but lets face it the Riverside pitch is still light years ahead of many if not most at this level. I didn't see Spurs or Man City players slipping any more than their lesser opponents in the cup. Come to think of it I didn't notice Blackburn players slipping much either. He seems to be wearing these laceless Mutator Predator boots (happy to be corrected) if my eyesight is not deceiving me. Are they also the same boots that Marcus Browne was wearing? If so that is two players down due to footwear as much as the state of the pitch. About time NW issued them with good old fashioned brown boots as I used to call them with real "men's" studs! Meanwhile we are now scouring for loans and additional wages that the Club can ill afford.
    • The new work permit rules will make it harder to sign European players but it will now be easier to sign players from outside the EU.
    • That's really sad. I think for the forseeable future we can't really buy top-level proven championship players. So we have to rely on international and young unproven players. I was a little bit worried last season when our new signing like Bola, Dijkstell and Browne did not deliever. I'm much more positive about the future this season, I think we have a solid squad now. If we do some smart transfers next season can be great.
    • Coulson has been well and truly frozen out since he gave that penalty away and I have a feeling Spence will be getting the stick after not tracking his man for the Blackburn goal.
