No chance you gotta be pretty bad to not be able to get starts at Newcastle

What.. premier league newcastle? Be realistic here we are a team who could have easily been in league 1 this season. Don’t let rivalry blind you. Newcastle have been poor but still have players that would walk into our team

Henri Saivet could be the mystery winger/forward that Warnock has lined up for a loan move. It’s just a hunch as he’s the sort of player that Warnock likes. He’s out of contract at the end of the season so will surely be eager to impress and earn a good contract.

I think somewhere along the lines he turned into a defensive centre midfielder and doesnt play out wide anymore

I remember he was great on FM as a winger years ago, but I don't think that's how it's turned out for him

Doesn't fit the bill of what Warnock said about the player. The guy we have lined up has been in match day squads and played a part. Saivet hasn't played a single minute, or even made any squads.

Between Saivet, Atsu, and Lazaar, they're haemorrhaging over £100k/week on players who don't even get a sniff. I know we complain about some of our deals, but Newcastle take it to a whole new level.

If it was saivet it would have been done as Newcastle have no interest in not signing off on it. He’s become that bad. The player in question is someone who still adds value to his club so they are holding off on confirming it as they might need to get someone in first. At least that’s how I’ve understood it from warnocks quote.

If we are looking at Newcastle I would want Matt Ritchie. Warnock has praised him in the past as well.

I was just thinking Saivet as he was linked with Cardiff through their local paper when Warnock was there. I’m probably way off with my guess though.

Ben Godfrey is another one

Godfrey is a strange one, didn't we let him go before he turned 16?

Richie is still making the matchday squad isn't he? I think he might be a bit out of our reach.

Paper gossip is that he may be part of a swap deal with Bournemouth for Philip Billing.

Been on the bench the last 2 or 3 games but been out of the squad for a month or so before then. Don’t know if he was injured.

Bournemouth would be a good move him but I can dream

He started the 3 games they had against City, Liverpool and Leicester. But they've been playing him as a left-back/wing-back.

We were linked with him a few windows ago, but I think Newcastle wanted something like £15m.

Did we let him go, or did he want to go? Went back to York, didn’t he, so maybe just not ready at that age to be away from home and friends.

Gibson said he was going to smash the league and my opinion set himself up to be milked by Clubs and Agents alike knowing money was available.

How many more times will this be used as a stick by people to beat Steve Gibson with? He never said that. He said that 'we want to smash the league" Two totally different things.

I'm not sure, think judging the club on players that leave/get released at that age is a tough one. But players leaving at 19/20 (onwards) is a bit easier to judge.

He also said we will have resources etc. So whatever way we put it, i think that caused a lot of the price inflation. Either way, I love Gibson and sorry if came across as a bash of him.

Either way we live, we move on and look forward to these signings from NW

    • What an absolutely stupid, pointless and annoying quiz. (9/22)
    • As the great Bill Bryson once said: It is not true that the English invented cricket as a way of making all other human endeavours look interesting and lively; that was merely an unintended side-effect. I don't wish to denigrate a sport that is enjoyed by millions, some of them awake and facing the right way, but it is an odd game. It is the only sport that incorporates meal breaks. It is the only sport that shares its name with an insect. It is the only sport in which spectators burn as many calories as players (more if they are moderately restless). It is the only competitive activity of any type, other than perhaps baking, in which you can dress in white from head to toe and be as clean at the end of the day as you were at the beginning. Imagine a form of baseball in which the pitcher, after each delivery, collects the ball from the catcher and walks slowly with it out to centre field; and that there, after a minute's pause to collect himself, he turns and runs full tilt towards the pitcher's mound before hurling the ball at the ankles of a man who stands before him wearing a riding hat, heavy gloves of the sort used to handle radioactive isotopes, and a mattress strapped to each leg. Imagine moreover that if this batsman fails to hit the ball in a way that heartens him sufficiently to waddle sixty feet with mattresses strapped to his legs he is under no formal compulsion to run; he may stand there all day, and, as a rule, does. If by some miracle he is coaxed into making a miss-stroke that leads him to being put out, all the fielders throw up their arms in triumph and have a big hug. Then tea is called and everyone retires happily to a distant pavilion to fortify for the next siege. Now imagine all this going on for so long that by the time the match concludes autumn has crept in and all your library books are overdue. There you have cricket.
    • Perversely, I think we might win this one. Warnock seems to be able to say all the right things to the players before games against good teams, and he'll know how to outfox Mick McCarthy. I imagine there are some angry players in our dressing room after that Monk-esque performance against Bristol City, and I could see us coming out of the blocks with a point to prove. However, a win is irrelevant to our promotion chances, because we'll then fall apart against Coventry and get embarrassed again. Rinse, repeat.

    • I don't know anywhere near enough about St Pauli or Bundesliga 2 to really say if it means anything, but I notice Stojanovic has only kept 1 clean sheet in his 8 games there, letting in 13 goals. In the same period Bettinelli has played 10 homes, kept 2 clean sheets, and let in 16. Fairly similar statistically, though I've not actually watched their games and I imagine Stojanovic made more saves in that period.
