The January Transfer Window 2021 AKA "Didn't we do well"

He got done for violent conduct but he looks like he was being quite gentle in the photo?

He even used both hands and Patterson didn't seem too distressed over it. Had he done it with most blokes his career would have been finished with both legs broken.

At least it was a bloke and not a Marlon King type of assault. When it comes to nasty characters and bad boys of ill repute there does seem to be a  bit of an uncomfortable repetitive Boro theme.

Can’t believe that people on here are condemning a possible signing because of rumours that he dealt drugs.    One thing or squad is crying out for is someone that can distribute well 😳

Fletcher is close to signing a new contract.

But the circumstances are extremely odd, don't you think? A player is rarely sacked by a club because contracts are pretty airtight against all sorts of situations, the best clubs can often do is fine a player. In this situation there was no messing about, he was gone as soon as they could arrange it. And coming back to what I've said before, this is a player Cardiff staff and fans alike would never have really thought about letting go so it's not like there was any significant desire to get rid of him for footballing reasons.

I think it's incredibly odd for a player to be sacked and for the reasons to remain secret. He's done something wrong but nobody but Cardiff and Mendez-Laing himself seems to have any idea what for (though I do agree that Warnock will likely know what has happened too, I imagine given his connection to Cardiff and their players he got in touch soon after it happened to check on him so he has maybe known for a while).

Rumours will always grow and gain momentum so long as that secret is kept. Nobody should be sat here ringing him out to dry over something they don't know about but I don't see why rumours should be so easily dismissed either. You can't expect people just to give him the benefit of the doubt just because we don't know exactly what happened. Somebody involved in it, perhaps himself alone, believes he is better off allowing the rumour mill to roll on and not address anything or maybe there is a legal issue that means nobody can talk about it. Either way, I don't think it's helping unless what he did was truly awful.

I just don't get why people care, these players are paid to play football that's it.

The whole moral argument to whether we should sign players and managers is all a bit odd, if we were that morally judgemental we probably wouldn't have Warnock in charge given his previous.

I do get your point about why it's intriguing though, I am more confused by people who don't want players based on off the field issues

If we had any moral standards we probably wouldn't have signed fisher either, so I don't think that's a concern of the club right now

1. Do you know what Mendez-Liang did? You must know something for not being willing to give the guy a chance to resurrect his career

2.  That fisher incident has got nothing to do with moral standards. Sure it was stupid and freaky but blaming the club for having no moral is a bit excessive to me

Well, yeah. That was and is still the main reason I don't want us managed by him. The diabolical football a close second.

Number 1 - it was bad enough to get sacked from a club which normally never happens in football. The fact that it's not come out just makes it more likely to be pretty bad. How can we decide if he's worthy of a second chance if we don't know what he did?

Number 2 - that gets reported to the police by the victim and he goes to jail or at very least ends up on a register. It's sexual assual FFS.

One signing is pretty much par for my expectations today, although I was hoping for one extra body not one replacement ideally. Would love an additional player, will keep my fingers crossed!

Derby where willing to give him a chance and they sacked a player for not wearing a seat belt 😁
