Boro V Millwall 3-0 (Watmore (2) Tavernier)

Nice to see us taking some risks in the build up play for once, rather than turning and going back to Bettinelli at the first sign of danger, and to see us play with tempo and take the game to the oppo. Have to feel if we’d set up in the same way in the last couple of games we’d have got something out of them.

Game over after 20 mins, would have been nice to score a few more but that was a comfortable win either way.  Two thumbs up 👍👍

Warnock's got me followed.

Need to make sure we do not concede a goal in first 20-25mins of 2nd half. Do not need to give them any impetus at all. They surely wont come out 2nd half and be as awful as they been in first half so we should not get too complacent.

Probably the best first half of the season.

That said, I wouldn't say Boro have been especially brilliant. Millwall have been awful and lacked any real attacking threat.

We've done the simple things well. Kept it tight defensively and passed it around nicely going forward.

First goal was very well worked. Second was a highlights-reel effort by Tav and the third was down to horrible defending by Millwall that created an easy opening that even we couldn't pass up.

Be interesting to see if Millwall have anything left to throw at us 2nd half...and to see how hard we press for more goals (I so want to see this).

Missed the entirety of the first half, (was out slinging some funny shaped balls around), but how's it gone so far. Are we playing well?

First two goals were beautiful.  Third one was scrappy, but still counts as part of a great scoreline.

Just by way of a comparison with something I was posting on Wednesday night. At half time in that game Assombalonga had 8 touches, 3 inside our half and 0 near the opposition goal. Today Akpom and Watmore have 12 each so that’s 24 touches for our strikers. Only 4 are in our half.  6 are in the Millwall penalty area or in the edge of it and another 4 are within about 30/35 yards. That’s about 10 touches closer to goal for our strikers today than Wednesday all by half time.

Well enough, but we've been helped by how bad Millwall have been.

First goal was the result of some very nice play. Second was a long range beauty from outside the box. Third was largely down to shambolic defending by Millwall.

Our defence hasn't had a lot to deal with and we looked pretty comfortable for most of the half.
