VectorBoro 75
Not so long ago quite a few Boro fans were not so condident that the club had any real ambition,Lamb was a waste of space, there was no money to buy new good players etc etc but with the recent transfer activity and the signs that it has not ended just yet are you impressed and positive that we are in for good season? For so many years we have gone for the glory signing, the big name or the player who has a good reputation but so,so often we have ended up with egg on our face.Strachan came in and I will admit that I thought he would have had a bigger impact and in a shorter period of time but in reflection he has had more to sort out than most Boro fans have realised.I hope he does succeed in turning our club around, I know some people have not warmed to him because of his press conferences etc but I trust him to bring the more enjoyable days back to our club and ultimately put 11 players on the pitch that want to fight for our cause.A fighting spirit is something we have not seen for a longtime. Ill be honest and say that I dont think we will get off to a storming start to the season but with a bit of patience from the fans this guy will get us promoted back to the Premiership by May 2011, It will be a bit of a rollercoaster ride but that is nothing new for the BORO. Guest vinboro
Absolutly delighted with the progress so far this season. I honestly cant see anything but automatic promotion as champions. Roll on this season :)
VectorBoro 75
I hope so Vin, so many fans from Boro and other clubs laughed when we were linked to players like Boyd and Thomson but with a mixture of the little ginger fella,Gibsons dosh and the facilities at Rockcliffe they have convinced them to be part of the Boro's charge back to the Premiership.Lets hope it all happen's and we achieve our ambitions and dreams because we didnt show any type of fight when we got relegated which is what the fans wanted to see. Downsouth 6,326
I put my hands up and fesup as I was for a period of time a doom ***er but I am totally thrilled and delighted with the way things have transpired recently because the club has shown action instead of just words. It certainly has decided that this season is ***e or bust and I do hope that the fans will show faith in Strachan and his team and get fully behind them. Yes of course there will be times when things go wrong, after all this is Boro, but you do sense that there is a real determination in all aspects and I know that it will be rewarded at the end of the season with automatic promotion as CHAMPIONS!!! Alfaboy 5
Personally I think Strachan is moulding a team in his own image, grafters and workhorses who play for 90 minutes with 100% commitment, but who also have that extra bit of ability to unlock teams and an eye for goal. I grew up watching the wee man as my father is an avid Man Ure fan and an Aberdonian to boot and he has always been an inspiration to me on the field (probably because I was only a wee one in a land of giants on the pitch when I was growing up ). I always loved his passion for the game and his willingness to get stuck in and thats what I think we are going to see this season for that reason alone I am backing the Boro to go back up automatically. A Fully committed, strong bunch of lads who can also score goals throughout the team, look how easy the Barcodes made it look last year and I think we have a better team than them this season, NO FEAR!!! Up The Boro! :)
thepassenger 16
I always argued that Strachan needed time to mould his own team, last season was very much a transition. The amount of players coming and going meant there was no stability and we never had a settled team. It feels now as though Strachan almost has his squad in place. From the little i've seen so far I think Thomson looks a great signing, we have real threat up front now and a potential 20 goal a season player. I'm trying not to get too carried away, as we've failed to deliver plenty of times in the past, but going into the new season i'm really optimistic and excited to see what this team can do. Come on Boro!!
Guest Captain Sensible
I think that last seasons league position overshadowed what Strachan had actually done. We were far more consistent under him, just unable to covert one point to three. I really hope he does well and will support him, in the end though, he has to produce and if he doesn't my support will waine. I like the look of the squad and what he is trying to achieve - lets just home it all come together.
Guest Token Yank
I really like the players WGS has brought in and am far more optimistic now than at the beginning of last season or even 2 months ago. I just really hope they can come together and gel quickly enough into a true squad. It won't do to be dropping points at the beginning of the season because the players are having trouble working together.
richmfc 41
ah but how many games in would it take before everyone is doom and gloom again?? if we end up being a bit unlucky and the first 4 games are 2 draws 2 defeats are the knives out again..
VectorBoro 75
Rich ... I was thinking the same this morning.I think we cannot make a judgement until November or December but you will always get the fans who will have their sniper rifles out after 2 games nevermind 4 :) Look what happened to Notts Forest last season, they had a bad start to the season and were in the bottom 3. ladyspite 385
my fear is that Boro fans seems to be wanting some kind of "happy" football, Barcelona and Spain comes to mind. To me that boring football but it seems most people actually enjoy watching that crap (no idea why). I just hope people will settle for wins and not nag about how boring the play is. anonymous-user 3
I am optimistic but not overly so.Agree with VB they will need time to settle/gel then they will motor.Forest did have a horrid start,Leicester inconsistant & Cardiff ran out of steam. Of the teams that came down I can only see Burnley mounting any challenge.Hull will be in transition before Nige motivates them.Pompy might simply vanish. It will be very open with most teams being able to beat eachother.Forest with their forward power will be there.Fox's not the same without Waghorn.I fancy Boro's chances of going up automatically.I also think they will entertain unlike some. BillySastard 3
I'm very impressed with the amount of activity so far because we've filled the 2 glaring omission in our squad's range: passion and goals. I'm looking forward to a successful season. Lord knows we're owed one about the past 4 years of sharp decline. I hope we go up as champions this year because I'm sure with Premiership money coming in, WGS can really build on the team we have in May with real quality. Definitely optimistic. richmfc 41
vector there will always be those that will think the leagues won if we win the first 3 and think we are relagated if we lose the first 2 , lets hope most people on here moderate it a bit
Downsouth 6,326
We will for the first time be consistent both home and away and I too like others will see where we are around the Xmas time to really put my money where my mouth is though this is a very different team that started last season
