I’m sorry to say that pessimism is my overriding opinion on the last 19 fixtures. With 57 points to play for I just can’t see us getting any more than 44. I know... I know  In other more obvious

I hope your right but with all due respect, I’ll abstain from witnessing the event

40 points with +6 GD. 30 goals scored would have put 20/21 us in the following places the last few years. I'm only showing how many points we need to be in the play-offs here so if our GD wouldn't pul

Simple maths tells us that 40 points from 27 games is 1.48ppg. So if we continue that trend 1.48 x 19 = 28.12 (I’ll round up to 29 because I’m feeling generous) will put us on 69 points nowhere near the average score to put us in the top 6 and even under the lowest score (70pts) in the last 6 years.
If (and it’s a big if ) we manage to obtain promotion standard for a season of 2 pts per game we could be on 78pts which would see us in great form and comfortably (going by history) inside the play off spots. So going by this automatic promotion is a pipe dream and we really need our new signings to kick in early.

In other more obvious predictions ......

@SmogDane to renounce porn and join the priesthood...... @Uwe to give up the whiskey and become SD’s altar boy..... @Borodane to say one thing positive about the Boro before the end of the season..... @Neverbefore to declare his undying love ❤️ for Pulisball.... @Downsouth to have a lie in and not post anything before 8am and finally @Changing Times to beg to come back to us from the Sunderland forum because they actually think that he is relatively normal over there

Honestly, Boro have been so unpredictable and so inconsistent I don't even want to try and predict our remaining fixtures.

I think Uwe is on the right lines though. I expect we'll continue to lose games that we ought to win and pick up points in games we wouldn't expect to.

Overall, I reckon the season will continue pretty much as it has done so far. We'll do well enough for a top 10 finish, but will probably finish a point or three outside the play-offs.

To finish in the top 6 (without relying on other results going in our favour) we'd probably need to go on a 10-game unbeaten run...and I just don't see that happening.

I am optimistic! We will end up in the top 6 for sure. NW knows his business and the new players will improve us enough!

And at least 1 of the current top 6 teams will do a Derby ..

Bournemouth have appointed Woody as caretaker manager ... 😄

I'm not doing the predictor, but i agree with Uwe's sentiments. We've been far too inconsistent up until this point in the season to command a play off place. We have a new dynamic to the squad with an extra couple of potential match winners. If they can impact us early and help build a run of good form, then the top 6 is possible. If I had to gamble my mortgage right now, I would have us finishing somewhere between 6th and 8th.

I could see this team gradually building momentum and taking 12 points from the last six games. However, I think it'll take a while for the new signings to gel properly and for Warnock to work out his best team and formation. In the meantime, I fear Brentford will batter us at the weekend.

I'm going to say we'll finish 7th - agonisingly close to the play-offs but far away enough to leave us all wondering what might have been. We've dropped too many easy points so far to deserve a top six spot, but who knows what a team with actual real wingers can accomplish?

One win in the last 5 has hurt us and now we're in a position where we need to outperform the top 6 rather than keep pace. Our February games are really tough... think we'll drop down the table and then finish strongly once the new players find their rhythm.

Have a feeling we'll just miss out on play offs despite good momentum but won't be overly disappointed in the season as a whole. 8th/9th.

Warnock will stay and we'll be in the thick of it for play offs next year (assuming no fire sale of our good players).

Reckon injuries - particularly in defence -  will be the key. If we don't lose players like Fry , McNair etc. then we will be really difficult to beat. That gives us a springboard to launch from and we now at least have a lot more options and hopefully more quality further forward. The schedule isn't as bad either in terms of number of midweek games, so fatigue shouldn't be as much of an issue for the ever-presents.

If we do avoid injuries in critical position, I reckon we will scrape into the play offs. There's always a team that implodes and one that comes from nowhere.

It's because I still do a daily walk and like to get most of the paces done before official work time😉
