We could be doing a spread payment plus 25% of future sale type thing

Definitely. We've gone full DFS this window with multi year payment plans.

The problem with spreading payments or saying that there will be a mountain of clauses to boost the fee is Flamengo are only responsible for 50% of his rights which they valued at 4 million euros in negotiations with the Saudi Arabian club.

I'm not sure that the agency who holds the remainder of his rights would even allow us to put in clauses as it's essentially third party ownership which I think is regulated differently by FIFA/UEFA?

The people who own the rest of his rights are letting Flamengo receive all the fee, so does that mean it doesn't matter and it's basically as if we're buying all his rights?

We would have to purchase his full registration obviously but we can add future sell on fees and that.

We are buying all of his rights.  We're not allowed to do anything else.  Future fees are future fees though.  It's a handy workaround, and it would be up to the selling parties to figure that out between them I guess.  You keep all of the money now but negotiate a sell on fee with the buying club.  We get the proceeds of the sell on fee, if there ends up being any.

It's a gamble like on the part of the agency or whoever it is.  Cos if he ends up being rubbish here then they end up with nothing.  But I'd guess that they do a lot of business with Flamengo so maybe it suits them to take the risk in this case, to help out the club.
