Perhaps he’s been told that’s the way we want to move towards, can’t imagine he’d be massively excited about a project consisting of our recent style of football. The style in which we play is up to him, he'll hire the manager and he'll be signing the players (or directly overseeing those who do). As head of recruitment at Norwich obviously he had less control, if we're doing it properly the entire team and management should be his vision.
BoroSmoggie 2,710
Best signing of the summer if confirmed.
estonpidge 1,449
This is exactly what most of us have been asking for, for years.
Redcar Rioja 5,975
Interesting that this was denied from Carrow Road back in June when first mooted in the Sun on Sunday. Webber apparently is leaving at the end of next season which makes it even more surprising as if true you would think he would have moved up to replace Webber. It will be very interesting to see how this pans out!

I think I posted the same video when we were linked to him earlier this year. He sounds like just what we need
"KM" 1,656
Agree with others, this is better than any other signing we will make this summer!
boro_fan_in_brum 604
Excellent news. It’s always been about the structure for me. Get that right and it’s happy days.

Redcar Rioja 5,975
Better spending the money on Scott now and putting down foundations than repeatedly throwing money around on Players who fail to deliver.

Great appointment...but he isn't an ex-Boro player - why all the posts about the Director being an ex-Boro player. @p_mards - I guess this adds weight to what we were both saying the other day too. Do you think this is a step forward to being a more "modern day" football club?

I do feel its overstated about how awful our play is, its direct and agricultural somewhat but much of that is to do with the squad we had and pragmatically to survive Warnock was a good choice. As Woodgate proved, just saying youre going to play a certain way doesnt work, you have to point the whole club in that direction first, change the coaching and then add to it players who fit the systems. Coming in for September gives Scott a chance to settle in, make plans and find the right manager once Warnock leaves and we still have a small squad which can be improved and added to, with some existing good players complemented by new players to fit into a new style.

So whilst they have the model in place, perhaps Delia acts pretty much as folk say Gibson does. Perhaps with then selling their top players he doesn't see his ability to go after better players. Maybe we are seen as a bigger long term option. Lots of guessing from my part.
Skinemrippers 895
Really positive news. I hope we and Gibson give him time. Is this season just another to stabilise and balance the books then? Or is he already involved and recommending some players?
