He won’t be playing foreign signings? Like Anfernee Dijksteel? or like Sol Bamba? Last season he looked to Neeskens Kebano and Yannick Bolasie to strengthen the squad.. he’s said Payero will bring something to the table that we haven’t been able to find elsewhere.. same with players we’re looking at from abroad.

You know that's not what I'm saying. Every one of the players you listed has played in England before. Warnock said today he would be giving players from the continent 'a few months' to integrate. So what's that, November? January?
Yes he didn't say he 'wouldn't play them', but it doesn't sound like he would be in a rush to either.

We should have beaten QPR but we’re 4 games in! Do you honestly think that by us starting Payero in every one of those games straight out of the Argentina’s league that we pick up more points?

You're arguing with a point that I'm not making. As I said , I don't hate Warnock. But do I understand why people are concerned? Yes, for the reasons I listed.

While I get the argument if having Warnock here while Scott gets into his role, I don't subscribe to it. Fry will be 25 next summer, Tav 23. If we spend another season languishing in mid table, they're more than likely wanting to be off to have a crack at the premier league it there is interest. Were wasting two of our best young talents for absolute donkey years on a nothing season.

If that's what they want to do, fair enough. Tav might want to go but I think he needs to prove he can stay fit for a full season, I don't see Fry changing his mind personally either, I think we're more likely to push him than he is to push us.

But part of this future has to include a willingness to deal for the right price on our best players and to use that money to replace effectively. This is one big factor of the challenge Scott faces; creating a side that can both sell and improve.

What do people think that ‘magic scott’s’ role is going to be? if we don’t get promoted players will move on.. players move on regardless. Why is this season a nothing season? Because we drew against Derby?

Give it a rest lads FFS

If you'd been on this website for long enough, you'd know that I called last season a nothing season before it started and I'm calling this one a nothing season before it starts. We are not getting promoted under this regime, we wouldn't if we gave it 5 seasons. It has nothing to do with drawing at derby.

Can’t believe all these comments. Neil Warnock is a specialist in getting teams promoted. With the signings we are getting in he must be thinking that he is a very lucky man. The players he will have to work with will be a lot better than he has in the past. No wonder he has always wanted to work with Steve Gibson. 👍

Warnock has experience of working with and developing our younger players. it depends where we’re at when Warnock leaves as to who we go for imo.

I must admit I was thinking past Warnock, as he's only here for this season.

As it stands now I can’t see warnock lasting the season specially if our identified manager is available. Like a few others I’m a bit sick of those comments, don’t really see the need. Even if he didn’t want the players surely an Argentinian international and a winger from the Dutch top division  are worth just giving a try, it’s not like we’ve handed him a couple of league 2 plodders.

If we managed to get Howe I think that would be an incredible appointment, I think too much time has past for him to be above the championship now, we could be a good opportunity to restart his career.

Warnock's not going anywhere this season, do you really think Gibson is going to sack him in his (self-proclaimed) last season in football management?

I get the frustration from the result yesterday, but I don't think conclusions can be made so early in the season. Save for second half capitulation against QPR and we'd have made an unbeaten, solid start to the season.

I'm not too concerned about the lack of game time for Payero so far. Maybe he is just struggling to get to grips with settling in England etc. Or maybe he just hasn't impressed in training so far? Do we actually know if he's any good.. who knows! I'm sure we'll see more of him as the games go on, but I don't think we can make conclusions on him just yet.

I remember the meltdown on this forum when we lost to Bristol City at home in our 4th game of the season in 2015-16, and look how that turned out.

It's way too early to throw toys out the pram.

I think the suggestion is that some of the players coming in are not Warnock's signings. So the question is a matter of trust. Does Warnock trust these signings and also the direction the club wishes to go in?

But that has long since been the case has it not? It happened under Karanka and others. Forshaw and Rhodes were described as gifts by Karanka, Downing admitted he knew he wasn’t wanted by the manager. Pulis said he wanted width and Saville was signed. Warnock is getting additions others are identifying. Managers do not run clubs, owners do, funny how the manager always gets the blame though and the owners at some clubs seem teflon coated.

There are a few issues for me, one is that the way the team was set up yesterday was a confused mess. Dijksteel looked like a fish out of water and Peltier looked off the pace as did Tavernier who wasn't fit and as a consequence our entire right side was banjaxed before we even kicked a ball.

Morsy was restored but to a midfield that was a new set up and with frustration getting the better of him  looked to have lost control and composure early on. Ironically it was only when Howson came on that we looked more settled and had the upper hand. Payero may or may not be up to speed, nobody on here really knows but Bolasie wasn't up to speed for months when he arrived but got game time. Tav clearly wasn't up to speed yesterday and whilst Spence hadn't been particularly great he and Dijksteel had at least finally looked solid with a bit of understanding developing and a threat but our Manager dismantled that right flank to effectively an eccentric weaker and unnecessarily disrupted set up.

After that second 45 against QPR where 10 men took the game to us and won we as fans expected a fightback. That result and the nature of it must have hurt the players as much as the fans but you wouldn't think it watching yesterday's powderpuff performance. Coming out of the blocks looking dazed and lost instead of snarling and looking to put the Rams to the sword. We wanted to see Jones, Crooks, Ikpeazu and Tav/Spence tear into them instead they bleated like Lambs for the first half and never troubled their Keeper in the second half. Even the rose tinted Gazette gave Lumley the MOM, how poor is that considering the opposition and the recent "history" between the two clubs.

There were far too many players way below par caused in part by a selection of tactics that disrupted and knobbled ourselves before a ball was kicked. The responsibility for that lies with the Manager, even the Ref couldn't be used for deflection purposes to mask the considerable failings all over the pitch.

SG gets slaughtered on here for the way the Club has been "run" since Eindhoven and all his "gifts".

I think not also begs the question: if Gibbo is going to continue to give managers presents is there any point in Scott?

“Presents” - you think Gibson sat there watching the Argentinian league and identified Payero?

I don’t understand this idea that Gibson just buys players and the managers aren’t on board with it.

There are 4 people sat in a room discussing players according to Warnock - do you think Gibson has time to be one of those 4 and is actively peddling players onto the manager?

If Gibson was pushing players onto the manager they aren’t going to be ones from Banfield or some mid table Dutch side.

The only player I think Gibson may have  actively been involved in was Downing but Karanka would have still said yes to it.
