Dan's Summer Transfer Thread. Aka: " Post Mortem Time""

Recommended Posts

Fancy us to make a cheeky bid for Jed Wallace this summer, his contract's up next, recruitment team's targeted him before and he seems very much the type of winger Warnock likes.

By the way did you guys know that the summer we bought Saville we also tried to sign Je..... 😉

James Collins has signed for Cardiff kinda glad as we don't want a 30 year old coming who legs will go and be crippled in a year's time

As glad as I am not to have signed him right now, I don't think we've quite avoided the the latter thing still happening. Plenty of time for Warnock to find another.

He would be great addition he's scored or assisted about 20 goals in the last 2 seasons. Is just 27 played in almost every game every season for like his entire career. Be great addition

Very surprised he's still there to be honest. Thought at least one of the teams on the way to promotion the last few seasons would have taken a punt.

Hopefully we are the club that's targeting promotion who takes a punt on him 😉

Lumley on a free is a solid signing if not unspectacular, but I am reserving judgement, just because of the shambles last season.

Would love him and Stojanovic to fight it out for the number 1 spot, but I don't hold out much hope of that happening.

If Stojanovic does leave, I'd like us to target a more experienced goalkeeper (Ruddy at Wolves would be my choice) to come in and provide competition. Might be good for Lumley's game too, to have an experienced head to train/compete with.

Currently watching the Lincoln V Sunderland game, Wyke is playing up front and has been non existent. Not even an aerial threat....

He’d fit right in 🤣

My mate who is a QPR fan, says Lumley is still young for a keeper and thinks he will do well for us.

Not the best at crosses and set pieces into the box but is good at shot stopping and 1v1's.

I wish him luck and hope he will be good for us!

Like the one thing we really need him to be good at lol.

I hear you, but he can stop shots ... Bettinelli couldn't 😂

To be honest I'm not jumping for joy at the signing of Lumley but he's on a free and has championship experience. He's also young enough that if he's a success he might have a resale value.

I also wouldn't be surprised if another keeper came in to challenge for number 1

While that Sunderland keeper Burge who we were linked with has just conceded through the ball rebounding of a pressing forward he struck kicking the ball upfield 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I don't think Bettinelli was good at shot stopping, 1 on 1s or kicking, so he's an upgrade even if he is poor at crosses.

    • Probably setting myself up for some disagreement but I have been surprised that the twin transfer policy approach seems to have worked to a greater extent than I thought, Sporar and Payero are both bedding in nicely and seem to be able to work well with Crooks and Uche whilst Bamba and Peltier have earned their corn. If Lea-Siliki comes good and they ever get to the bottom of Ameobi's problem, then I would say that the window could be called successful when compared to others of late. Lumley has his moments but is a massive upgrade on Bettinelli and IF the loan lads come back as more experience and rounded players, I would say progress has been made, even it only means they have impressed elsewhere enough to get decent fees if we can't hang on to them. Coburn and Jones seem to be being integrated into the squad and although others are knocking at the door, it is up to them to break it down by impressing Scott enough to fast track them as he will be the one with the power to decide their future. Hopefully we can keep up the run next week and Gorgeous George takes a day off (for a change) as Clayton seems to have been shown the cold shoulder and shouldn't come back to haunt us in the same way. With any luck might have a couple back after that have to say in closing that although we should have won the last three games, it is really good that we have begun to win games against teams we should win games against, instead of being "Typical Boro"
    • Play-off spots looking interesting now. Not getting carried away, but with player to return from injury we should be able to hang thereabouts.
    • First game I have been able to see live this season and some very promising signs mixed in with a dreadful final ball at times. Great interaction between Sporar and Sol at the end seemed to suggest a good spirit in the camp as well which is good to see.    We all know it’s the hope that kills you but we look like we are a team who can only get better . Today should have been 5 at least and the concern is that we aren’t clinical but in Sporar we have a man who could get 20 this season once he gets the right pass my glass is half full again .....
    • As said above, how was today anything but a convincing win? We won 2-0, and 5-0 probably wouldn't have flattered us too much.
    • Just seen it.  That challenge was so daft that I can only assume he fancied a week off.  Playing for that lot you can't really blame him mind.
