And warnock wants us to play 5 at the back more often than not. So two injuries and were down to bamba, who can't play 3 times a week. This is exactly what I said I was worried would happen when we signed bamba and got absolutely blasted for it.

You do realise the manager is a head coach and not a 1970’s manager, he does not decide definitively who comes in and who leaves right? Stop blaming Warnock for everything you don’t agree with. Blame Gibson, he is the chief, the buck stops there. He deserves credit for the way he has opened the purse strings and keeps us afloat, but equally he carries the can for recruitment and retention.

Well yeah, if we lost our first choice back four, all at the same time, we'd have a problem.  Same with every other club in football!

kind of explains why our season fizzled out like it did along with tav being out so much. but NW get blamed for it. it was a tough season on a already weak squad.

Gazette saying we tried to get a left-back in today and it didn't happen.

We're looking at the free-agent market for a LB.

They’ve only had all summer 🙄 shouldn’t have let Coulson go until we got a replacement. Didn’t Warnock himself say confidently that we wouldn’t be letting Coulson go without getting someone in?

no one is suggesting he plays there, it's a what if scenario.

Playing 3 at the back would be bizarre in my opinion now we have a lot of attacking options

Yeah, I think it's quite clear we only played 3 at the back on Saturday because Ikpeazu was ill.

it;s what ifs, not ideal, but there options

Josh Doig should have been a LB consideration surely ? St Johnstone also signed a midfielder meaning Ali McCann may be available. McGrath could still happen ? Have a feeling we will pull something off. Not ITK , BTW , just my thoughts.

They weren't all out at the same time last season from what I remember.  Hall came back before Fry got injured.  Bola was around most of the season, he hardly missed a game.  Fry missed a handful at both ends of the season.  Dijksteel was out for the most time I think.  Usually we had at least two of them fit, and obviously McNair should be included as well.

If you lose your entire back four for a lengthy period of time then you're likely screwed either way, there's nothing you can do about that.  Even with cover you're still not as good.  If you think about it, right now we actually have four right backs -Dijksteel, Fisher, Peltier and Spence.  That's probably one too many for a club like ours.

Apparently we tried to sign Ivan Alejo from Cadiz on a loan to buy deal today, he appears to be a winger.

A right winger as well. Maybe Spence was going if he came in? Spence to Forest might not now happen 🤷‍♂️

Admire your optimism but with half an hour left I can't see it myself.

Warnock had no intention of playing Coulson as a left back regardless of the situation.  We'll sign one, we've been looking at the free agent market all season long, I'm sure they will be our fall back options.

    • our performance has nothing to do with the Derby's cheating. so there is no point to that article. the only fact that matters is that we finished 7th, 1 pt behind a Derby team that have admitting failing FFP across a number of seasons, and thus should have been deducted points in that year.   that is all, - Derby cheated, lied about cheating and delayed the process to escape punishment in a number of seasons.   When a sprinter finishes 2nd in a race to a drug cheat, does it matter if the person finishing 2nd could have run faster?
    • Its a tough one IMO. He has a point about the fact we lost 6 games in a row. We certainly didn't do ourselves any favours. If we'd won 2 or 3 of those, or at least managed to draw some, we could well have taken Villa's 5th place finish. We managed to lose at home to Brentford (11th) & Preston (14th). Had we won those thats an extra 6 points right there. Could also argue we should have at least managed a draw at home to Bristol. Would have given us 80 points - enough to finish behind West Brom on goal difference. OTOH breaking FFP rules may have been what allowed Derby to sneak ahead of us, finishing the season with a 5-game unbeaten run (won 3, drawn 2). I think there are too many variable to blame our failure to get promoted on Derby, but even without that, they should still be taken to task over the fact they did breach FFP rules. I think the media are focusing too much on how the season panned out and not enough on the fact Derby (or Mel Morris) willingly and knowingly broke the rules. Also agree on the increasing level of hysteria in these articles. Sad to see such biased journalism.
