Offer has been accepted bauser has had his critics but he has pulled masterstrokes on both of these.  Now over to you Leo!  Payero small issues look sorted should be an announcement tomorrow or f

Gibson doing a Gibson. Having another punt, pushing for Bolasie, this Argentinian and money available for a couple more. (Not a lot though) Spence going for £5m

Not been keeping up but Sporar should be sorted by Tuesday

Payero might take a while to get used to the English game, he might not settle here, he might hate England or he might be rubbish. But for someone that has criticised the club a lot on here in the last few years I'm glad we are thinking outside the box a bit.

It was more the fact that that’s he’s not training with the rest of the Boro squad, settling into his new surroundings, getting used to his team mates, how they play etc and learning the Warnock way. I’m pretty sure he won’t have played much hoofball in his fledgling career and its a lot to take in 😁😁. Seriously tho, he will pretty much miss all of pre season, which isn’t exactly ideal. Plus, he will probs be off on holiday after the tournament or at least need a bit of time to rest a bit. Possibly go home for a week or two whilst everything is finalised. He might not even arrive till the season is up and running, so I would be very surprised if he lined up for our first proper game of the season. Plus, he’s gonna be coming to a completely new country under what are strange times right now, with COVID and everything, which could make it more difficult to settle. A lot of players from abroad, particularly young players, can take time to settle in, get to know their team mates and pick up the rhythm and pace of English football. Sometimes a season or more, if ever. Ive no doubt he’s as fit as a butchers dog, so it wasn’t his actual fitness I was thinking of when making the comment. Plus, whoever he is playing with (or watching from the bench) at the moment, It’s not the boro players. He can be playing alongside Messi but that’s not gonna help him integrate into the Boro squad. So, if we take away the sarcasm and the upside down head, you were actually correct, he is bound to behind 😁

Exactly.

The lad's gonna be flying halfway round the world to play here and will have to adapt to a very different culture and way of playing.

He's also not gonna have much time to do it, if he's going to be playing in the Olympics. As has been said he's going to be playing catch-up to the rest of the squad.

Thats an awful lot for a young player to deal with. I think we can expect him to struggle at first, but hopefully if he's anything like as good as the hype surrounding him, he could be a great signing.

Is he any good? Promising that Brentford seem to be keen on him, if our interest in him is genuine.

We definitely seem to be getting linked to a different set of players this summer compared to previous. Even if it is just ‘links’.

You have nothing good to say about the Boro, or England.

I was responding to someone questioning why a player might need time to adapt from a South American League to a completely different style of football in the English league. It was a factual statement, not a negative.

It's weird because this is very true but then we're also getting linked to and signing very Warnock players simultaneously.

It does feel like there are two recruitment systems running alongside each other

I think Warnock is open to, and perhaps realises that overseas is the way to go to find gems and probably the only way to find quality players for the budget we have.
At the same, he doesn’t want to fill his squad with players who have never played in or lived in this country (which is understandable and sensible imo), so he also wants to have some ‘seasoned’ championship players in the dressing room.

The way Warnock talks about Payero in the latest Gazette article does seem to suggest that Payero may have been a SG pushing:

Quote

"Steve, for all we haven’t got a lot of money, he always wants to gamble with the Argentinians and the Brazilians.

"He (Payero) is young, a good age, is going to the Olympics so it may not be a bad gamble."

That article is alluding to we are really trying for Muniz. But I'm glad we are going for South American talent as to be honest the club has only ever achieved success when it's had South American flair

Steve Gibson always wants to gamble on Brazilians? He's kept that quiet over the last decade!

He's been going to A.A (Argentinians Anonymous). Trying to kick the habit!

    • The administrators must be worried about HMRC. They supposedly owe them £26m.
    • I presume the continued legal action is to ensure that 9-12 point deduction that they are due for breaching P&S is actually carried out. It's all gone quiet since they went in to administration.
    • Well they're currently on -2 points. Another 9 point deduction would make that -11, which is currently 18 points from safety. That would be a serious amount of ground to make up and would require 3 teams above them to have pretty horrendous seasons, in order to overhaul them. I'd rather see Mel Morris get taken for every penny he's got, or otherwise punished to the full extent of the law. Instead he's wringing his hands and saying he's "sorry" while the club that was under his stewardship could end up going to the wall, if the administrators can't find a suitable buyer.
    • Does Gibson seriously holding a grudge for them outbidding us on Waghorn 😂
    • They haven't actually been punished for cheating yet, which is the whole point of principle for Gibson. They've had a self-inflicted 12 point deduction for administration. They're currently only 9 points from safety, that is far from insurmountable with most of the season left, and the pressure needs to be kept up to ensure they get the punishment they're due.
