I'm guessing that there are a few people on here who have never been on eBay or at least I hope they haven't unaccompanied!

Second hand Tesco carrier bag only used once bidding starts at £5, P&P £10.95. if you really want it you will not want to lose to another bidder!

Sammy Ameobi's injury sounds potentially concerning. The Evening Gazette slipped this at the bottom of an otherwise positive article on Howson and Bola edging closer to fitness. Hopefully specialists being involved isn't an indication of it being a bad injury:

Asked about Sammy Ameobi, there was still no update on the knee scans recently done to determine the extent of his injury.

Boro physios were due to speak to specialists yesterday.

Working on the assumption that he has had the knee injury since before he signed, at least he's passed a medical. I know injuries don't necessarily affect medicals, but if he was completely crocked I imagine we'd have swerved him?

Yeah, being one of the biggest names in Hollywood helps too, especially when you have the power to get your dream film made by leaking the test footage onto the internet and completely getting away with it because, well, you're Ryan Reynolds.

You can imagine Paul Mullin speaking to his Mrs:

"So basically I can drop down the League and work for Ryan Reynolds at Wrexham or go up to the North East and into the Championship, furthering my career and work for Steve Gibson at Boro"

Mrs Mullin allegedly had her bag packed and fresh Cymru stickers on her car bumper while vaguely recollecting hearing Paul rambling on about a Championship or something..............

yeah I think that's more just because he's been quarantining so it's been difficult even getting the scans done, fingers crossed no cause for concern yet!

I would guess that no Hospital be it in the Public or Private sector would want anyone near the place with a possible possible Covid case.

Casually leaving out our two best players in Howson and McNair for Crooks… easy how we can get so excited about new signings and forget what you have! Howson won’t be about forever but still can’t believe you’ve left McNair out. I don’t think we need any new starters we were just crying out for big forward who bring others into play and depth for when Tav Dijksteel Fry inadvertently get injured through the season. I’m happy at RB with dijksteel spence and Howson all very capable still think Peltier Bola coulson leaves us strong enough at LB unless you want someone to come in and really push Bola. I still think we look better in a 3 with dijksteel and bola at wing back and McNair stepping out with ball just needed someone to hold ball up to allow us out. Don’t think we were far off last season injuries killed us.

Well, let's start at the beginning, Howson and McNair aren't our two best players.  McNair isn't our best defender, and I doubt he'd be regarded as our best midfielder either.  He's a versatile player, which often gives the illusion of being 'best' but those two things aren't the same.  Howson isn't even close to being our best player by any definition.

We obviously need new starters, and we're clearly signing some, unless you think the signings we are making are to sit on our bench?  I don't think that's likely at all myself.  The injuries didn't really kill us.  We were only ever in the top 6 for like a week or two throughout the whole season.  We were simply never good enough to get there.

I didn't casually leave out the players however.  I was trying to put myself in Warnock's mind, to see what a likely first XI could look like, given the players we have or are attempting to sign.  I actually agree that it wouldn't be a surprise to see Howson in the side most of the time, and the same can be said of McNair.  I just wondered if Warnock might prefer Hall to McNair, now that he is fit, and to partner him with Fry.  I think Hall is a more rugged central defender than McNair, and I reckon Warnock would prefer that.  In a back three they could all play of course, but I was looking at a back four because I was trying to anticipate what Warnock might be thinking with the new midfielders.  In midfield I was looking to accommodate the new signings, and that left one spot.  It's entirely possible that even if that is correct, Warnock would select Howson there.  I'm just hoping that he doesn't.  I don't believe that we're signing Payero to come and sit on our bench, although again, nothing would surprise me where Warnock is concerned.  I think if we end up with the same basic first XI as last season, with Ikpeazu instead of a one of the strikers, a lot of people will be disappointed, and that disappointment will be made known to Warnock (and Gibson) directly this season.

Paul mullin off to Wrexham. We were linked with him weren't we?

Wasn't it the ITK people who linked us with him?  One exceptional season in a career of mediocrity, I'm not sure we were ever really looking at him.

I think this is all pretty accurate. One thing that Warnock buzzes over more than players overt 6ft2 is leaders. And obviously he sees Hall as one, but unless Hall gets made team captain, I can see McNair starting when fit. Howson might not be a guaranteed starter like last season with more bodies in midfield, but in a 46 game season, he'll still start 25 or more if fit.

I think I've said this before, but it is possible to be ITK and still miss a lot of stuff (I know that's not what you're saying here, so this isn't a dig at you, or anyone really).

A friend of a friend works in a very good position at Preston North End. They have signed players that he has known about from the very early stages, but they have also signed players that he has only known about a couple of hours in advance.

He also sometimes gets the wrong end of the stick on stuff he gets told - he was convinced PNE were going to sign Grant Leadbitter from us a few years ago, and as far as I know they didn't even bid for him.

So if even people in high ranking roles are getting things wrong, it's no surprise that other sources are occasionally getting bad info!

Oh yeah, absolutely not a dig. The lads on here are superb

@Changing Times i think our first 11 provided we sign Payero will probs look like this!if Warnock plays 4.3.3

Lumley

Dijksteel Fry Paddy Bola

Payero Howson Crooks

Tav, NEW CF, NEW LW

For the times he goes with 3 at the back I can see him sacrificing Payero or a wide player for Hall.

One of the couple was crooks i think

Yeah he said he was speaking to 2-3 players, and wanted a couple in within the next ten days. So Crooks will have been one of the ones he wanted in. Hoping the other is a winger or a ST.

Well, we'll see.  If we play a back three then they are all likely to play.  If it's a back four then one of them is missing out.  I thought it was interesting, but not surprising, that McNair was apparently a player we were open to offers for (although that's assuming the ITK information is/was correct).  He's obviously a canny player, but he's also a bit betwixt and between as well.  If Warnock selected Howson every game it wouldn't surprise me, but I'd be disappointed, and I wouldn't be the only one I reckon.  Last season Warnock could leave out the fringe players most of the time.  This season he's going to have to leave out players who absolutely expect to be playing, and players who some fans expect to be playing.  It's a different dynamic, and it will be in front of crowds as well.  Of course with 46 games he can rotate the squad and no doubt we will.  It's difficult to pick a first XI on here for that scenario though as there obviously won't be one.

Pretty confident Uche is going to be our first choice striker & Watmore is likely to be a starting 11 player too.
