Asked about that decision, the Boro boss said: “We won’t be taking that any further.

“I had a chat with him. He was unlucky really. He had a bad injury last year and missed two or three months at the end of the season and he’s not really got right since.

“I think he was a little bit frustrated that he couldn’t do more.

“But if he gets himself fit I’m sure he’ll get a contract somewhere. I believe there are talks about him going to Swansea.”

Not Villa accounts specifically, but a lot of football people who'd have been all over it like a rash. Did seem to be widely regarded as a surprise - seen a few comments saying it was like a 'ceefax transfer' where everyone seemed to get the news at once.

Although I have no idea if you ever had ceefax in Denmark or that was just a weird English thing 😁

I don't think Denmark had Ceefax, but they had Teletext (tekst-tv, IIRC), which was always the Sunderland to Ceefax's Boro.

Hopefully that'll be the end of having to sign goalkeepers and these two come good - having to sign 5 keepers in a year and a half is way too many.

I'm nervous that Lumley is seemingly our first choice keeper...I was hoping we would bring someone in to put ahead of him. Guess we have to have faith in Warnock. 

Hopefully we can stop talking about Andy Lonergan now at least
