That Jed Wallace at Millwall doesn't look like a bad player.  But that point at Fulham is looking better and better.

we should try to get him in a double deal with the unfortunate surname

Glad that we finally seem to have wised up and are starting to look abroad rather than just domestically. Far better value to be had if you look at recent years, the likes of Buendia, Benrahma, Mbuemo, Maupay etc.

Bigger risk, bigger reward.

Buying abroad guarantees no more success than buying domestically imo.

Norwich and Brentford of this worlds have both had success abroad but they also had eqaul success in this country With likes of Max Aarons, James Maddisons, David Raya, Pinnock etc.

The trick is buying well regardless of location.

I was just thinking that or did we catch them cold on first day 🤷‍♂️

The even bigger trick, is having an environment where the new signings have the best opportunity to flourish.

For example buying player that fit a longstanding profile, a recruitment and coaching team in sync with each other and importantly experience at that coaching level to help improve and develop those players.

Hopefully we have made the first steps, in bringing Scott in, to get us to that stage.

It’s usually the price that helps by buying abroad

probably a bit of both I think. Often seems to be the case with relegated teams. With how their heads went after they conceded vs us it'll be interesting to see if that was a one off or if that might happen more often.

Could be.  They also might be better playing away from home perhaps?  We sat in there and although they had a lot of the ball, they couldn't create a huge amount of chances.  Teams coming out a bit might suit them more?  I still think they have defensive weaknesses, lol as I say that they conceded one.

Not really. The likes of Aarons, Lewis, Raya, Pinnock n Maddison dont cost the world.

And the flip aide of saying its cheaper to buy abroad is the reward (selling) is greater with domestic based players as you can always ask for more knowing people will pay more

Nothing guarantees success, the point is if you’re willing to do your homework then you can get more bang for your buck in the foreign markets. Being ‘proven’ domestically inflates a player’s value significantly.

In the same year we bought Britt, Brentford bought Maupay for less than 2m. He ended up having a record of 1 in 2 and made them 18m profit.
