That’s probably the longest and most thought out post you have ever put up @p_mards 😂😂😂

It won't let me delete it 😂 I was about to waffle on but then realised I can't be bothered but now can't delete it 😆

What’s happened with Sam Folerin? He’s playing for U23s so fit and not getting on bench now and  we have spaces left on it. Certainly leapfrogged by Cobain.
Strange after he got a new contract ealier in season and was starting to make bench then.

Warnock lost faith maybe?

I’d love to see us try and get Adel Taarabt on loan next season to link up with Warnock for what’s probably his last run. Had in my opinion the best individual season I’ve seen from a championship player.

Currently a regular for Benfica so doubt he will come here.

We defo need a maverick game changer. Someone who can turn a game in our favour with just a little bit of magic. Like a Merson, Tomlin or Ramirez etc that we had at this level in past. Maybe Bolasie might be that player unless Warnock got a trick up his sleeve.

He is bringing TLF back as player/manager when he becomes DOF!

I think the thing I like most about Bolasie is that while he can be mentioned as a similar player to all of those, he seems very positive, professional and, from how things seem on social media, very popular amongst the squad.
Would love it if we can keep him next year.

Out of the players that are out of contract I think the only one we definitely want to re-sign is Bolasie. I'm quite content with our starting 11 next season being built largely around a 4-3-3 core of: GK (new); Dijksteel, 2 CB's of McNair, Hall and Fry, Bola; Howson, Saville, Tavernier; Watmore, Bolasie and ST (new).

We desperately need a first choice goalkeeper. Thankfully there seems to be quite a few good options available who are out of contract or likely to be available on loan. Then there's a back up keeper if Archer leaves too.

When we've been without Bola or enough CB's fit we've generally switched to a back 5 with Johnson filling in at LWB, so I think Warnock would ideally want another LB or ideally sign a player that can play as a LB and CB. The extra CB depth would potentially free McNair up to be pushed into midfield - which will add to our physicality and set pieces strength. It could be an option of deciding between what would be the best for the team between spending money on a LB/CB and keeping to a back 4, or keeping Johnson on and adjusting our formation to a back 5 like we have this season when we've had injuries. We will have some interest in keeping Johnson but I think that will likely be a back up option to add depth to LWB and LW. He fits into the team, is consistent and seems a solid professional so we could do a lot worse.

I may be over analysing it but I can imagine the futures of Spence and Johnson are potentially interrelated as both are best suited to being wingbacks in a back 5, and not particularly well suited to being either a fullback in a back four or an out-and-out winger. If we get a naïve club putting up some decent money for Spence then I'm sure we'll snap their hands off, but that could also have ramifications on Johnson's future as we're going to be far less equipped to play a wingback formation. Well unless Coulson comes on leaps and bounds to convince Warnock that he can play in LWB.

If we have Bolasie and Watmore as our main winger options then we're going to need some more squad depth and players who can add a creative spark. Mendez-Lang could be a similar fairly cheap option to add some depth at RW. He hasn't shown the same progress that Bolasie has and he has unfortunately been hampered by injury in recent weeks, but I'm sure Warnock rates him as a player and I'm sure he'll perform a lot better with a full pre-season under his belt. It seems like Fulham will want Kebano back next season so we're going to lack his spark of creativity so in an ideal world we would replace him with a high quality #10 and/or winger.

I'm sure Warnock would jump at the chance to get a set piece specialist like Bannan if we can afford him. Whilst McNair can deliver a good cross from free-kicks, he's not very good at direct free-kicks and his corner crossing isn't as good as his free-kick crossing. Plus, McNair's height would be useful in the box.

In strike we're going to need two targetmen. That's been the one key area that we've massively lacked since Warnock has been in charge. There's a lot of targetmen out of contract at the end of the season that will be on the radar of the vast majority of Championship clubs like Diedhiou, Jutkiewicz and Wyke. I'm sure there'll be lots of other options on our radar that are based abroad or lesser known names.

All-in-all I think we aren't in the worst position in the world to build a promotion winning team from.

@p_mards on the back of what you said I do think Warnock might look for a left footed defender who can play both CB or LB in a crisis. We got Dijkstell who can do that on other flank.

I notice Geroge Friend not getting a game at Birmingham. Anyone fancy him as our 4th/5th choice CB and 3rd choice left back. Offer him a coaching role. Come on guys. Its Gorgeous here we talking about....

Good move for him. And them.

About his level. Hell of a shame that’s he’s out of contact as I’d like to see him as leverage for Tav‘s brother

Aye, we were linked with Gregg Cunningham in both windows, who nearly fits this bill. Though he's a bit more if a LB I'd say - or a left hand of a back 3. Warnock clearly wants players who can play more than one position.
