When? Saturday 10th April, 15:00 Where? Oakwell, somewhere in South Yorkshire So. Barnsley. Flat caps, whippets, ecky thump, eeh by gum tha's gonna be a reet tricky game.  Mai

Warnock is a manger/coach who won't admit that he's got it wrong bringing Bettinelli in, we al know the keepers wrong for us and nobodies convincing me the coaching staff don't know that either, stubb

It shouldn't read like it's coming from the MFC website though.  This is something I copied from there as well: 'The game wasn’t one for the purists. Barnsley’s assault on the play-off places has

It was a punt up field wasn’t it and a defensive mistake?

He anticipated the short header though, got himself in position to intercept it.

Talk it up as much as you like, it was a punt upfield and a defensive mistake.  That's our first half highlights.

Well that was...the first half of a football match.

Probably the worst we've played without being behind at the break. Guessing Barnsley are thinking the same.

Very low quality game all round. Both teams managing to create  a few half chances, but no complaints about any missed sitters.

Hope things improve 2nd half.

Who’s singled him out? My post never blamed him for anything.

Are we not allowed to talk about players?

The whole point I'd made is surrounding the same thing Dan mentioned. People love writing off our young players. It's nothing new. People judge our young players in the same way they'd judge Britt Assombalonga or Jonny Howson, players on significantly more money, with significantly more experience and who we should expect significantly more from every week.

People have written Spence off as if young players literally never improve but we know they do, we see that they do. What's the likelihood that a 20 year old player has hit his peak and found exactly where he's supposed to be on a football pitch these days? That they've shown everything they will ever be capable of? There's this sense that once a player has reached about 20 or so games, they're fair game for the same level of criticism that everyone else gets. If Spence comes out of a game and has a bad game, but Howson or Britt hadn't played well but hadn't made as many mistakes as Spence, we'd be talking about Spence because the expectations are actually just the same for some people. Really, there are some players on a football pitch we should be expecting more from and, in order to allow for better development, allow for the mistakes that young players make.

We're not talking about a subject that only exists in this thread or from 1 or 2 people's words, we're talking about something that is ongoing amongst our fans all year round. Spence is the latest in a long line of players who some people almost want to fail to be proven right in a sadistic sort of way.
