wilsoncgp 9,228
That first 15 minutes or so again was brilliant from us too, at both ends. Just overloading them and managed to make the most of it before they got to grips with it which is exactly what you want to see. Pretty much the first time we got chance to get it forward in that position and Luke Shaw just takes his effort as well as any striker in that position, great finish all things considered.

Ideally we want to start troubling them at the other end a bit more but it is our game to lose right now. Keeping them at arm's distance isn't too bad but we need to make sure we don't just sit and let them have the ball for 45 minutes. Agreed. There's defending and keeping them at arms length and there's sitting back and letting them come at you for a half. We can't afford to do that.
Changing Times 12,211
This is where we find out if England have learned from the last few years, and found a way to adapt as the game changes. Similar scenario to the World Cup semi final, we score early, look ok for a chunk of the first half, but the opposition come back into it. In the second half we couldn't change the flow of the game, Croatia took control, and eventually went on to win. Have we grown from that game or not?
boro-unger 3,811
Hope we can nick another early goal early on in the second half. Going to be nervy if we dont. Couple of times weve overplayed a bit and ran into defenders (sterling). Maybe need to just take a shot rather than trying to walk it in.

AnglianRed 6,229
Sterling again...typical striker's challenge. Lucky Insigne was off target. England living a bit dangerously right now.
Uwe 3,543
Definitely that was a penalty imo. Knees clash and takes out the back of Sterling’s knee. Accidentally yes but still a penalty
AnglianRed 6,229
Wow - Italy going early with their subs. Berardi on for Immobile and Barella also off.

Uwe 3,543
We’re sat far too deep. Can’t do this for 30 mins

Need to repeat the first half where we kept possession more. Even if we just pass it around. Giving Italy so much time on the ball won't end well.
