One other thing that annoys me - all these people saying "I boo because it's a Marxist gesture" - ask them what they know about the theories of Karl Marx and it will be a very short conversation. People use it as an excuse to be a *** far more often than for any genuine, informed concerns.ย

I have had this argument far too many times.

Heading away with the good lady wife so wonโ€™t be back on before the final. Sincerest best wishes to the ordinary English fans on here. Hope it happens for you ๐Ÿ’ช

Congrats, friends ...ย  ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ V ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ฐ @ Wembleyย  ...ย ย  Good luck to y'all!ย

Few excellent posts regarding the final and the tournament as a whole. On the pitch Southgate got basically every decision he made spot on leading upto the final. Even the decision to go to a win

I accept that I may have misread @AnglianRed's post a little bit, that's on me for just assuming they were white. I won't make that mistake again.

HOWEVER, my point stands that BLM isn't saying people of other race's lives don't matter, and it never has. That's why all the "ALL LIVES MATTER" people can frankly *** right off.

That's on me for assuming they were white.ย  Interesting.

AnglianRed is a fella of Asian descent who is telling you all, who are white, why there are some issues with this.ย  And instead of listening to someone with far more experience of racism, and being someone of colour in a country that is majority white, you are telling him that he's wrong.ย  It doesn't matter what you are assuming, try listening to what he's saying, and understanding that he has greater knowledge and experience of this than you ever will, so may just know a bit more about it.

Politicially I'm quite marxist-leaning. It amuses me when uninformed idiots equate Marxism with Communism.

He did write The Communist Manifesto, although I do take your point.ย  It's not exactly a million miles away from it though, is it?

Yeah I know mate, but quite clearly, there is a link between Marx and Communism.ย  And unfortunately, mostย examples of Communism to date haveย been less than successful, and haveย alwaysย included the subjugation of the people involved.ย  Marxism is a nice theoretical way of looking at things that will never work because at the core of humanity is survival of the fittest.ย  Weirdly, there is also a bit of that inbuilt into racism at some fundamental level as well.ย  As a species we are a million miles away from evolving beyond that.

Just seen that Leyton Orient have revoked the season ticket of a fan and banned him for life after some racial abuse online following the final. Thatโ€™s one way to go as Iโ€™m sure he will be incredibly annoyed that he canโ€™t ever go to watch a team where he used to be a season ticket holder. Well done LO.ย

Brilliant! This needs to become standard practice across the EFL and PL.

This is fine but presumably those people are allowed to go and do absolutely everything else?ย  We're still equating racism to a football problem when it's a societal one.ย  A lot of people aren't season ticket holders at a club so a ban like this would be largely meaningless to them.ย  Some people won't even be football fans at all, so are we going to ban them from other things as well, like let's ban them from the cinema if they like films, or let's ban them from pubs if they like a beer?ย  It's tokenism.ย  Football isn't the issue, it's just an arena where there are a lot of high profile black people, so they get targeted with the abuse.ย  You can't institute football only punishments cos it simply won't work.

Football only punishment? If I owned a privateย cinema is ban them. If LO can ban him Iโ€™m sure itโ€™s pretty easy for the police or whatever to bring forward criminal charges. Who says other punishment canโ€™tย be done? This is just a private business that has decided one of their personal costumers arenโ€™t allowed in anymore. And at the same time sending out a message to the rest of their constumers/fans.ย Itโ€™s not up the football club to act on behalf of the police or court but rather take a personal stand.ย

I'm saying other punishments won't be done.ย  And you're exactly right, it's not up to the football club to act on behalf of the police or courts, but for some reason, they are the only ones who are expected to act at all.

That probably says more about your societyโ€™s will to change things. I think itโ€™s commendable what LO has done and itโ€™s a punishment that the moron will probably understand better than a month in jail and a (further) stained criminal record.ย

By the way;ย  not sure if this has been mentioned but Schicks goal vs Scotland did indeed win goal of the tournament.

Pogbas goal vs Switzerland was second & Modric vs Scotland was 3rd.

Well yes, racism is a societal problem and it can rear its ugly head anywhere.

But at the moment online and in-ground abuse of footballers is the hot topic, so banning known offenders is at least a step in the right direction.

I've always maintained you can't control how a person thinks, so getting rid of racism in society as a whole is probably as futile as King Canute trying to stop the tide coming in.

But you can systematically reduce the number of public places where these people are free to conduct their vile behaviour.

Now its football grounds, but it would be great if eventually bars, restaurants, clubs and all other public venues followed suit. Cinemas are probably a bad example as they're not exactly known as hotbeds of racist behaviour.

Combine measures like this with (hopefully) increased and stronger action from the social media platforms and we can certainly make life a lot more difficult for them.

Well to be fair no Communist government has ever delivered the "peoples' paradise" that was the pinnacle / ideal of Socialism. China, Russia, Vietnam, Cuba, North Korea...

In fact, in practice Communism and Fascism are just opposite ends of the spectrum...bend that linear spectrum into a circle and they're right next to each other.ย ๐Ÿ˜‰ย Both result in a small wealthy elite, oppression of free speech and vast gulfs in wealth.

So I'd say Communism is no better than Fascism.ย ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธย In theory it could be great, but as they say, power corrupts.
