Have a guess who was marking him just before he makes his run into all of that space. In fairness to Howson, he actually tries to pass him off to Peltier after he's left him alone. Unfortunately, Peltier is going to the same man who Howson has decided to go to. Good chance number two. Well, we all saw that one at the time but still it was quite impressive how he let their lad run right past him. Build up to the goal. Nothing major here but Howson is the bottom Boro player in the picture when Reading play that ball forward. Payero is the Boro player at the top of the screen. There seems to my mind to be too big of a gap between our back four and our midfield and the Reading pass goes into the gap between the two. Howson is never able to get back into position to do anything really. Payero could have done if he'd followed his man. If I remember rightly, Payero played in front of a holding midfielder for his club side in Argentina? Dom Shaw for manager
CrazyL 2,565
A team can set up to be tight and keep clean sheets, sacrificing attacking threat and thereby hoping to nick games 1-0, and if you can’t then at least get a draw. Or they can play more expansively sacrificing defensive solidity for creating lots of chances at the other end and essentially out scoring the opponent. Somehow we have managed to sacrifice defensive solidity at the expense of creating next to nothing at the other end. Teams are passing around us in a way which we just seem incapable of doing to them. It is genuinely woeful stuff. And don’t even get me started on the outright stupidity of selling Morsy.

Neverbefore 10,937
It feels a lot like mogga where things just turned awful in Jan and it continued on into the next season and he just had to go. How much longer can he be given going by that trajectory?
Changing Times 12,339
Spent most of his time talking about the refereeing then.

That’s what’s surprised me about warnock, I was expecting tight defences, clean sheets and 1-0’s. But we haven’t even got that. Other managers have clearly worked out how to play around his system and just brush us aside. He’s not gonna change it either.

Robin Johnson 616
If he really had any respect for Gibbo he would walk, rip up his contract like Strachan and just admit he has been failing miserably since January.

I said before KO that the defence shuffling worried me. Granted there were changes forced on Warnock but he decided to put Paddy back in instead of Hall meaning that only Fry was a stable foundation. Little wonder then that Lumley was our Man of the Match and realistically Reading could have had at least another one or even two had it not been for some good saves. Overall the entire tactics looked an incoherent mess.
Johnmfc81 902
I think he's lost it, he really doesn't know how to set us up, the tactics are awful.

Agree with this. The time is right. He has to walk away now. Any half decent manager would still have time to get this squad of players promoted. We are way underperforming to the point where something has to change
