Are people.really having a go about us appointing an experienced, promotion winning, club record beating manager being put in charge above a former player who does have pedigree, but zero experience?

In terms of pedigree, 16 months ago Wilder was runner up to Jurgen Klopp for LMA manager of the year and spoken about as one of the best English managers around for us to get him to come to manage us

They announced it at 10:45. There's an interview up on the MFC site too.

Haha. Moving my phone must have made it gain reception! The message came through while the phone was in my hand. 🤣

Great first interview. Wilder stresses multiple times he’s here for the ‘long term’ - just to quash any speculation that he’s here for this season only.

I was already content with the appointment, easily the happiest I’ve been since we got Karanka all those years ago. But that interview has really made me excited. Talks about wanting to dominate games, unify the first team with the academy, the need for a longer term vision, his passion to go again after the sour end to his time at Sheffield United, that we have a talented group of players. Basically everything you want to hear.

I can imagine the rush to get it posted on here, thinking you were first to the news!

And Scott's interview saying he's straight down to watch the U23s with him after that. Good start.

I'm glad the club has put up interviews from both Wilder and Scott. Scott seems an open and honest person himself so right now, I do trust that this is the man he wanted. Think you have to at bare minimum hope this is what we all wanted at the club and especially Scott.

Agree on Bola, think he's an ideal fit for that role. As an aside it's worth noting that he's apparently 6ft1, I always thought he was smaller than that.

Re the GK situation - I'm hoping Wilder comes in with no preconceptions about the squad and gives Stojanovic a run in the side. The old coaching staff were terrible judges of goalkeepers. With Bettinelli and Archer last season and Lumley this year - it's like they were actively trying to recruit the most error prone keepers around. Stojanovic is the best keeper at the club for me and I don't think it's a particularly close run thing.

I would love to see Stojanovic given a chance.  I have said since the time it was him or Pears that he was our best keeper.  Think he would potentially suit Wilder, too.

He will likely go into training without any preconceptions about the players, and hopefully have a good luck at all the players available, especially in the u23s.
