That should add a few million to his valuation. I think that's an exaggerated factor. It's not particularly hard to reach the required number of points to allow you to sign an overseas player. That's where this trend came from for big clubs to sign keepers who will never play for them, isn't it. Schwarzer, Turnbull, Green, Bettinelli with Chelsea, Camp and Heaton with United, Scott Carson at Man City as an example. Kind of defeats the point of it when they do that as they're not providing opportunities to anyone or benefitting English players, just prolonging their careers if anything. Yeah, but I imagine people would kick-up a fuss if they changed it to outfield players only.

If he comes in and does well it's going to make Warnock look very silly for all his moaning about no left backs being available in the free transfer market

Both count as homegrown players, same age, both struggle with end product but clearly have plenty of ability. He went for £16m at the time apparently, although I seem to remember it being more tbh. Thanks, Dan James is an interesting one. I also thought he went for more as their was a little bit of a bidding war between Leeds and Man Utd. His one championship season he had good stats and he’s probably ahead of Tav. Will be interesting to see what he goes for. Tav has a limited time on his contract (18 months I think) worse stats than James and probably won’t be subject of a bidding war. It wouldn’t surprise if he ended up going for £8m - £12m.

Redcar Rioja 5,872
If Tav was playing for say a Derby or Huddersfield just as examples would we be happy spending £10m on him? I think most of us would baulk at that sort of money. Even if we went up we still would question the wisdom of spending that amount on a Championship player who thus far hasn't really delivered. That makes these next few weeks under Wilder really important for his future.
Humpty 3,246
A player is worth what someone will pay for him and what a club are willing to let him go for. So I’m not sure that’s wholly relevant.

It does feel like Wilder's arrival was the catalyst, but on the flip side, we were linked with Taylor a month or more ago when Warnock was still in place. I wonder if maybe the scouting team rated him, but Warnock didn't?

TLF10 4,440
Neil Taylor until January seems very sensible. If it works great and if not we go our separate ways. It also points to fact Wilder is not willing to play with a makeshift left back and wants a specialist there. I do wonder how bad Bola is though injury wise.
