Personally I'd prefer a 3 year Prison sentence and a £10,000 fine to be coming his way but that won't happen. Sadly we will have to wait until the knife crime now prevalent on our streets comes to a Football pitch soon before it's realised that there actually is a problem and heads are removed from the sand (and other places).

Although I agree with your point I don't really understand the entitled generation part. Which generation are you referring to?

The ones that were allowed to go through school without any discipline and whose parents don't know the meaning of the word. It doesn't apply to all of course as the majority of people are still decent, respectful human beings but the ones who get away with everything and anything day after day and still do. Forty, fifty and upwards previous offences, £50 fine and don't do it again.

Just as local examples, the ones that terrorise Estates in gangs (Hemlington, Berwick Hills, Pallister Park etc. etc.) with impunity whose parents either don't care or simply condone their behaviour because it's only kids having a bit of fun terrorising the odd pensioner or immigrant family etc. etc. aided and abetted by the Police, Politicians, Councillors and Courts who do absolutely nothing.

Then we have the Police sitting behind bushes catching speeding motorists in Redcar on the Trunk Road (not condoning speeding by the way) on "safety" grounds" when there are incidents a hundred yards away several times a day every single day in Dormo of lads riding stolen Motorbikes up and down 30 mph streets performing wheelies with no insurance, no helmets and at twice the speed limit with a blind eye from authorities. That generation and their Parents generation.

Or he's a Parent who was at school 15 or so years ago when the cane and slipper where deemed an abuse of his Human rights. I'm sure he is or will become the perfect role model for his Kids.

Right, so which generation is the good one then?

You'd have to go really far back, because violence was rampant in football in the 70s.

Those violent lot must have picked it up from their parents, so it can't have been the previous generation either.

Presumably those born before the 2nd World War get a pass.

As someone just shy of 60, we do not want the behaviour of fans to descend to the levels of the 70’s & early 80’s. Going to watch a game should be a chance to join a tribal community supporting your team. Without the minority who deem acts of violence, throwing objects included, as a rightful action as ‘football’ is different to normal society.

UEFA/FIFA are already looking down on English fans due to the invasion at the Euro final, let’s not give them any more ammunition to use against us.

And I think everyone would agree with that. It's when the conversation turns to attacking particular generations over what is the act of one man (seemingly not even in the generation that was originally the target of the derision) and further strays into a conversation about the police and crime on the streets that people have taken issue. Nobody wants football to return to the 70s and 80s, nobody is defending the actions of the dickhead last night.

I imagine he will get a relatively short prison sentence, the Leicester fan who assaulted Forest players in the FA cup game earlier this season only got 4 months IIRC, but also got a 10 year ban from football. I'd hope that the same would be given here as a minimum, although I hope Forest take a similar approach to the one we did and ban him for life.

I think the only aspect that wasn’t ticked off in that list was blaming video games!

I do think there needs to be some kind of fan restriction though, it’s all too easy for people to get onto the pitch. I love a good pitch invasion as much as the next guy after a game like that but it’s just getting silly now.

You honestly think beating school kids is the way to go? It’s got nothing to do with the school. Raising a child is the parents job not the school. Beating a child is just proof of a small, disgusting human being that shouldn’t be allowed around children let alone being a parent.
