wilsoncgp 9,632 19.6k
Lumley, Daniels, Taylor, Hall, Peltier, Fisher, Olusanya, Ameobi, Uche, Spence, Akpom out for sure. Coulson will probably follow. 😢 With JLS, Sporar, Connolly, Balogun to have their loans ended, that leaves us with: GKs: Brynn CBs: Dijksteel, Fry, Wood, McNair, Bamba? WBs: Jones, Bola CMs: Tav, Payero, Howson?, Crooks, McGree FWs: Watmore, Coburn So 2 GKs, a LCB, a RWB, a LWB, a CM for the deeper role and 2-3 FWs. If we can sign: 2x goalkeepers 1x LWB 1x RWB (or bring back Spence) 1x CB 1x ACM (a new Gaston, to link midfield and the strikers) 2x ST ...while keeping our crown jewels (Tav, Jones, McNair et al), we'll have a squad truly deserving of promotion next season. In terms of outgoings, you could put a line through half our squad without missing any of them. My suggestions would be to dispatch Hall, JLS, Lumley, Connolly, Daniels, Taylor, Olusanya, Peltier, Ameobi, Balogun, Coulson and Sporar. Agree with most of that. Would take Balogun on loan again and keep Taylor as a squad filler though. Brining in quality players in each of those positions is a big, big ask... We'll be after the same free agents as teams with budgets equal to and bigger than ours. Surely keeping Spence is out of the question if want to fund the rest of those incomings. Move on Lumley if possible. 1x LWB - whether it's as first choice or back up to Bola, we need to strengthen here. Taylor could be a utility defender if he wanted to stay. 2x CB - I expect Hall and Bamba to be moved on, Peltier to be offered an extension, and we need solid back-up options beyond him. Wood may fill one of those slots, and there's also the risk of losing Fry or McNair to a PL club. 1x CDM - Howson is getting in in the years, I'd offer him an extension but we need a younger option here too. 2-3x ST - None of the loan strikers should be here next season, bar possibly Balogun, and I think whether it's 2 or 3 depends on whether we can sell Ikpeazu and Akpom. I don't see Bamba being moved on, surely he should be offered a player coach role? He's done more than a job at CB this season and his influence in the dressing room is obviously important.

I think he's largely been excellent whenever he's played, with the obvious exception of Preston. But he's 37 and you can see he's gained weight in the last few months. His fitness will naturally decline next year, I'm not sure on it. On current performances he'd be fine as a back up for sure, but it would inevitably be a stop gap. The hype is building around him which can only help. POTM award and England U21 call up last month too. If Forest get in the play offs (they likely will) and he performs, or even helps get them promoted, we could be looking at a serious fee.

It would guarantee one Premier League that would be desperate to sign him and they wouldn't see it as a gamble to pay the money. Obviously I'd sooner we were promoted at their expense though. TLF10 5,307 7k
Slightly controversial or maybe not? If Bamba retires could Grant Hall not be Frys back up? I know he not had a look in under Wilder but he has been fit for majority of Wilders time here. And he always seemed seemed fairly solid when he did play under Warnock. We need a left sided first choice CB and a back up left sided CB. Maybe Jack Simpson from Rangers for the back up?

That's about the state of things but Id be very surprised if we manage to keep hold of all our other saleable assets. I think you can probably add one of Fry/Tav/McNair/Jones to fund a rebuild. Even if we got 20m for Spence, it doesn't go far if you are wanting 2 quality forwards. Personally I'd be up for McNair going if we received a good offer. I think he's the most easily replaced out of the 4 mentioned.
LBP 3,818 6.1k
GK - ?, ?, Brynn RWB - Jones, ? CB - Dijksteel, Wood CB - Fry, Bamba CB - McNair, ? LWB - ? , Bola CDM - Howson, ? CM - Payero, Crooks CM - Tav, McGree, Boyd-Munce ST - Gyokeres, Coburn ST - ?, ?, Watmore I think Fisher has a part to play as back up when he comes back Big ask keeping hold of Tav, Jones and Fry like, fear one will end up going most likely Tav
Denzel Zanzibar 7,667 14.8k
We have to keep Tav next season if we want to stand any chance of going up , under Wilder he's vital to the way we play. Ditto Isaiah Jones. Fry won't leave unless the club sells him.

If we did blow a considerable some on a Gyokeres type signing we could do a lot worse than vydra to go alongside.
