It boggles the mind, Fletcher on the bench for New York Bull, Assombolongo on the bench Turkey, Flint on the bench Cardiff, what was someone thinking, We have wasted season after season,

Wilder better get this right especially the strikers .

Britt has 10 goals in 32 games. Would have him over Connolly every day of the week.

Was really hoping that we could have got this lad on loan in the Summer but it looks like the cat is out of the bag. The world and his mother seems to know all about him now

Gavin Bazunu's Man City future unclear as leading European clubs show interest

With Scott in the building, I'm cautiously optimistic that recruitment will get better.

I keep meaning to mention it but when we had the season tickets meeting with MSF, we got to have a brief Q&A with Scott too. It was pretty impromptu so I didn't get chance to mention it on here to get suggestions for questions as I'd planned previously and it's one of the things I'm not sure how much I can speak about. But he really feels like a man who has been building his career towards this role. Really think he has to start proving how good he and Wilder can work together this summer.

I don't think the club would mind too much me saying that he's very much the kind of person who wants players in ASAP, too. He doesn't want to be messing about too much at the end of the window because he wants players to have as much of a preseason as possible. Of course, there's always at least two parties involved in any deal which means getting things done early depends on other people's patience in getting the right deal for themselves but hopefully there's a few deals we can get done sooner than later. I wonder how far along we are in moving players out too, though.

Does anyone think Bola could be the LCB we need? He played there under Warnock and did pretty well. I would play him there now if Fry is injured.

He was okay there and he could definitely do the overlapping thing okay. I just think he's a bit lightweight in terms of defensive battles, particularly in the air. He's best for us when he's going forward and keeping his defensive duties to the minimum.

The recruitment cant get much worse to be fair, Failed to address the glaringly obvious weaknesses in the squad & recruiting 2 non scoring "strikers" that could'nt knock snow off a rope from 2 yards. JLS- Disaster, Payero & McGree might have been unlucky so far and may come good yet but have contributed next to nothing this season. Boyd- Munce must have got lost coming home from Mansfield.... Plenty room for improvement from Scott & Co

Boyd-Munce isn't really a first-team player and was never meant to be when he was brought in, if he comes good then great, if not, it's not a big problem. McGree and Payero have both had sparks to them but have had a stop-start career here so far already. Full pre-season with Wilder under their belts and hopefully we'll get more out of them, still plenty of time yet anyway.

As for the likes of Sporar, Connolly, Balogun, JLS... at the very least, we won't be stuck with them next season if we don't want them and that in and of itself is a big improvement on signing players on long-term contracts who we don't want after 6-12 months. Hell, even Bamba, Peltier and Taylor will only be here as long as we want them to be after this season, Lumley and Daniels only have an extra year on that and both signed on a free so we should at least be able to shift the keepers without worrying too much about a fee.

Whatever the outcome this season we have one hell of a rebuild to do over the summer

Eight in, 12 out for me. If we can sign:

2x goalkeepers

1x LWB

1x RWB (or bring back Spence)

1x CB

1x ACM (a new Gaston, to link midfield and the strikers)

2x ST

...while keeping our crown jewels (Tav, Jones, McNair et al), we'll have a squad truly deserving of promotion next season.

In terms of outgoings, you could put a line through half our squad without missing any of them. My suggestions would be to dispatch Hall, JLS, Lumley, Connolly, Daniels, Taylor, Olusanya, Peltier, Ameobi, Balogun, Coulson and Sporar.

Ameobi hasn't had a bad game all season

For my money we're gonna need 2 keepers, 2/3 strikers (personally think Balogun could be a good option over a full season), 2 LWBs, another RWB assuming Spence is off and a left footed centre back. So who do we want then from the bargain bin?

Strikers with expiring contracts

Strikers who are currently free agents

Goalkeepers with expiring contracts

Full backs with expiring contracts

Full backs who are currently free agents

Centre backs with expiring contracts

Centre backs who are currently free agents

Might have to scroll a little bit to get past the players obviously out of our range. I'd have thought Vydra/Rodriguez/Pukki would be right up Wilder's street for the type of forward he seems to like, but can't imagine Norwich and Burnley would want to lose those players when it's likely they'll be champ teams next season. Would be a risk bringing in someone as injury prone as Rodriguez when we already have Watmore who's a big injury risk.

Great selection of CBs set to become available too.

I posted this on the Hull thread, but it makes more sense here:

Something else to consider...In the past, teams have loaned players to us, and we responded by putting them on the bench. The consensus among neutrals is that CW is a great manager to develop young players (same with Cooper at Forest). Arsenal see Balogun as a future starter (I think), but he has a lot of developing to do. He could certainly do with at least one more season in the Championship, and I think we would be in prime position to have him again whether we are in the Championship or the Premier League.

Just a thought...I have no inside info etc.
